    Afternoon all,

Went into town today for my first pumpkin spice latte (which I was disappointed in) and went into Primark. They have some lovely stuff in, didn't get the infamous blanket as I already have a couple Christmassy blankets, plus I went in for some boots. I did get a lovely snood with robins on, which did look very Christmassy - I've got it on now :)

I did also have a look at some Christmas magazines, there was so many I wanted :)

I saw a couple of good things for my DH's pessies. Couldn't get them because he was with me. My brother came too as in Westfield you can borrow wheelchairs - he also pointed out a few things he wanted too. Glad I've got some ideas, men can be pretty hard to buy for!

Also got a Boots catalogue, I do like to flick through it but it wasn't as good as I thought. I think I build things up to much lol :)

I got them from www.scentedcandleshop.com I ordered them yesterday at 1.17pm and they arived this morning with four yankee samplers + p+p was £9.09 x

I second that! same experience here for first time user, my Yankee Candles arrived today, am very pleased and would use them again.

I got the Christmas tree (thought it might be a bit pine loo cleaner but it is actually lovely) Winter Wonderland - beautiful, smells just like Christmas! sort of cool and crisp with a hint of fir tree, I will buy the jar one of this when Im paid! White Christmas is also lovely, and the Mandarin and Cranberry smells just like when you peel clementines at Christmas to me, really lovely!

Ive just read the Christmas mag and although some lovely bits and peices and some very nice decor ideas (by the way - lakeland, 24 x Advent tealights, all numbered, very cute! can't remember price but very reasonable) and a few nice recipes, I wouldnt buy it if personlly if I wanted something with help for planning, as they pretty much do everything in December! :rotfl:

:eek::eek::eek: Sorry but this did make me laugh! :rotfl:. It reminds me of a friends grandmother who does and says things like this.

I agree, but it would have to be a free guide otherwise it wouldn't be very MSE of us would it :D.
Some of those tips are shocking though, I've been spreading the cost for months, if you start doing it all at the end of november that wouldn't spread anything, it would proabably people (me at least) to drop dead of heart failure in the supermarket when I saw my bill at the till!

me too! it is a lovely magazine though, but not aimed at money saving by the looks of it! they have tips for having people to stay such as buying a 2nd set of bedding for each guest room  to make it easy/quick to change beds, having a box of warm socks and slippers inside the front door for everyone, new coat racks for the hall to avoid clutter with visitors, hang a fluffy dressing gown in the room with a tray of toiletries to make it like hotel, all lovely ideas of course, but pricey!

I agree re the weekly shop, today I added in an extra tin of cat food, box of mini Melba Toast (lovely with pate and cucumber) a bag of peanuts, extra box of basics teabags and a stocking tube of sweets for DS's friend, had £8 off plus a load of extra nectar points so reduced my bill by loads and treated myself to the magazine :)

can you imagine the bills if you only added extra food in december!?
  • Own My Own-The pressies for your niece and nephew look lovely, Im sure they will love them. :) Hope you feel better now? x

chickywiggle-Have had a look but cant find any cheaper than £53 at amazon, you could do a price watch at www.camelcamelcamel.com just in case they come down in price? x

Ailsb-Welcome! If your Dad enjoys the mag subscription could you get it again but jazz it up into a hamper by maybe getting the current copy of the mag and adding a few bits like a blanket, toffees, biscuits, mug, tea etc? For the 14 yr olds stocking you could get:
    Socks
    Toiletries
    Poster
    CD/DVD
    Sweets
Something nostalgic that he liked from childhood?
A keyring related to a hobby
A few silly bits from Hawkins bazaar etc
Hope that helps a bit. :)

pinksteps & pipsmum-I have the same problem with Studio, so much stuff Id like but you need a credit account and I cant get one, neither can OH. Apparently you can phone an order in and pay by card but not sure how true that is?

PipsMum-Tuesday will be here before you know it, so exciting! :j

always after a bargin-You must be fizzing with excitement at your hubby coming home, Im so excited for you. :j

Damzel_In_Distress-I love those tags too and loads of other bits but cant justify the postage either grrr. I missed out on that fab sale they had too as I was penniless so double grrr lol.

noodles86-I so feel for you, you really dont need all that upheaval let alone not actually knowing for sure when its all going to happen. So awkward when its family/friends too. I hope its sorted out asap for you. x

MarliesMommyxx-Reindeer scene it sounds fab, will keep an eye out for it! :j
DS has an ear infection and we've been up all night, he's finally fallen asleep on the sofa so Ive sneaked on here! Trying to type reaallly quietly lol. I went to Asda earlier to grab some Nurofen for DS and we wandered fown the Halloween aisle. They have fantastic stuff, really cheap too. Makes me wish we were at home on Halloween so we can decorate! Fab stuff if youre doing a Horror film hamper or something. Anyway I was most chuffed to spot the blood drink like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blood-Energy-Drink-Fruit-Punch/dp/B002UJD00G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1349364861&sr=8-1 for £1 each! :j Was hoping they'd have them again this year! Grabbed 3 for hampers! :D Also grabbed a bag of sweets shaped like body parts for one of the zombie apocalypse hampers. Have also just ordered a a zombie survival book with my last bit of Amazon credit. :D

  • Me again lol! Just read a lovely idea posted by happysmithy on the main board. Christmas Jigsaw Puzzle Countdown where you do it bit by bit finishing it on christmas eve. Perfect for my DS who doesnt have the attention span to do a whole one at once! Going to be on the lookout for a christmas jigsaw in charity shops etc now. :)

  • Any luck with Cardiff Primark? I'm trying to decide whether to go to Cardiff with my Mami and visit St Fagans and make a day of it... If Primark is well stocked, I'll maybe head down next week - 3 hour round trip!

Christmas stuff out in Primark is mainly home stuff, Christmas pyjamas, socks & gloves/scarves.. They have a crazy amount of jumpers out now so bought a few of those, 2 lovely Christmas Throws that were mentioned on here (1 with reindeer, 1 with xmas pattern) & some glittery candles :D Lots of new things in there since I went last & lots of everything :) I live an hour away so had to take a chance !

just having some lunch and flicking through the Christmas mag (its called Complete Guide to Chrsitmas) which is lovely ... but I did have to smile at this >

In the planning guide 'end of November - start putting non perishable items in your basket each week to spread the cost' ... end of November??!! we are all doing that now!

'Christmas Eve - wrap gifts for the family's stockings' .. again .. Christmas EVE!?

I think we should start a magazine about how to plan Christmas the MSE way!!!!

:rotfl: December 25th :: Start browsing for sale presents for next Christmas

    and so on :rotfl:

I tried but the chap on the phone was a definite no, so taken my custom elsewhere but would be interested if anyone else tries and is successful
