very very tempted :undecided
Oh wow im trying to convince myself that i need one of those, it would look fab in my living room.
Had a very productive christmas week this week (probably due to the fact that both me and DH have been paid) got both dd's main pressies in the Argos 3 for 2 and a few smaller pressie in the 3 for 2 as well, worked out we got £170 pounds worth for £115. I always like the argos deal as I cant do the Sainsburys one as we dont have a large one close enough, so i never bother.
Got a tin of roses and quality street with the shopping to stash away and got Nativity on DVD with the £5 ebay voucher. Also bought its a wonderful life and the Holiday but holding off watching them til a bit nearer.
With the present sopping going well im turning my attention to the food side. As well as stocking up on treats I like to build my normal store cupboard up so in January/February i dont have to worry to much about 'normal' shopping.
Im in town tomorrow so im going try to get some nice brown paper for my wrapping, will try poundshop first and if it not in there I spied some in wilko. Also checked the christmas decorations and remembered that we need a new tree as the last one fell apart when we were taking it all down last year.March 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000 -

My darling Nan was also Philomena, Philo to her friends. She was also a saint, my Nan I mean. I strive daily to be the Nan she was to my DGC. I won't manage it but I will try - she just had the knack of making us (her grandchildren) feel special.
BBTHREE I'll check the football fixture tomorrow and see if I can make that Saturday it would be so good to meet up:) and of course anybody else who could make it -think Lunar is local to us too.
Thinking about it where is Lunar? Scuttles of to check she if I've missed her!
I've added "follow all" to all you lovelies on Pintrest. Think I'm going to have to ration myself on there maybe set an alarm - after an hour or two. Where do those hours go?The secret of Christmas

Well! I disappear for over a week and I miss around 60 pages of chat! It has been an extremely crap past week and half and I haven't had the energy to even bother going on the internet, my doctors put me on yet another new medication and I've not been feeling to great.
I'll go and have a catch up on all your lovely chitter chatter in a moment and no doubt they'll be hundreds of things I want to comment on! But I'll resist otherwise I'll be bringing up things from days and days ago and you will all wonder what the heck I'm on about.
I have had quite a productive past few days though, I got DS a truly lovely christmas book called 'A letter for Santa' for 79p from Home Bargains that is lovely quality and has a much higher rrp. Also got him a small santa plush type bear thing for 79p thats really nice and both will look great in his xmas eve hamper from the elf.
Also managed to pick up a few more bits, A small Harry Potter lego set for £1.50 was my best bargain though! :j From tesco clearance section! Should of been around £10 so really really chuffed with that, His present stash is looking really fab at the moment.
I've been adding up all the original prices of things and compared them with my receipts and I've got him around £300 worth of toys for a total of around £83 ! I've been picking things up on glitches/online sales since June, and also picking things up in toy clearance sales etc such as argos and tesco over the past few months and i actually can't believe how well it's all turned out.
I don't even feel like I've spent anything really because it's all been done over time I've rarely missed the money.
So just a few more bits to get for him now that he's specifically asked for, and a few xmas dvd's and he's all done!
Quick question - Does anyone know the best place to get brown paper to wrap things in ? I'm planning on doing an advent basket for a friend and need some desperately and also want to wrap some gifts for family in it so me and ds can get crafty with it . No idea where to get any though as i've never used it before.
I'll go and catch up ,Ill probably still be reading by tomorrow morning at the rate you all natter on :rotfl:Having a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona0 -

Well done on money saving present buying :xmastree:0 -
Just found this thread. Right up my street... I'm not an all-year-round Christmas preparer, but I've been steadily putting bits away for the last couple of months. My daughter reads MSE so I won't mention what I've bought! We tend to go for stockings of goodies rather than big presents between us.
Christmas food:-
I found some lovely plain chocolate 'rice paper' gingerbread - the proper Nuernburger Oblaten Lebkuchen - in a greengrocers for 50p (!). Normally these are three times the price even in L*dl or Ald* .
I lived in Germany for many years (as an adult) as did my parents, thirty years previously. They made our Christmases as special as they could and German foods and traditions were a big part of this. Some have made it across to British supermarkets, but not all.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
