Yes DS (10) hasn't said a word about it, he's knows which side his bread is buttered, LOL! I think they'd be horrified if I suggested dispensing with the stockings though, and so would I so we'll carry on as normal. We'll be with their much younger cousins this xmas Eve so there will be the whole business of mince pie and carrot being put out as usual, even if I have to zip their mouths up.

:D we do the biscuits and glass of wine too, and the hanging up of the stockings, I think kids have to work so hard at school now and their lives are much more complicated than ours were at that age (well from what I recall anyway!) so I love that at Christmas everyone can have a bit of magic and relaxation with family time. It's like Disney for me - you see so many grown ups, oldies, couple there without kids and lots of teenagers, all getting in the spirit and being carefree, of course they know it isnt Mickey inside that custume but they want a photo with him anyway! :rotfl: I think you need a bit of magic and suspension of disbelief sometimes :D

I was 8 when my older brother told me about Santa, and I remember being shocked and upset, I wasnt ready to hear that!
(and probably still hold it against him :rotfl:) My DD said she was suspicious at 9 and didnt really beleive at 10, DS was the same but he's never let on - as you say, bread/butter! :rotfl:

Have been a lurker for a while so decided to post. I actually don't need to buy many Christmas presents, but I just love this thread! So christmassy and lovely.
I've found the xmas smilies :snow_laug :rotfl:

    Welcome Zoe
Congrats on being finished. I take it you have got all your presents, and it's not that your just no bothering this year.:snow_laug
I just had a wave of excitement, I've been mooching at my Christmas pressies list (I'm super organised this year it's colour coded and everything lol) and out of the 15 people we buy for Christmas and the 2 very inconveniently placed birthdays one on the 2nd of Jan and one on the 4th, I've already got my husband's nan and my nephew done, my son is 90% done and my SIL's birthday is done.. I have a good feeling about this year, I think I'm gonna be able to do it without borrowing off my mother like I did last year.

Last year I tried to give everyone at least one homemade pressie and because I was so disorganized I damn near killed myself with the amount I had to do finishing it all off in the last few weeks :( This year I'm starting early with everything, shopping, make-ing and (husband permitting) decorating! I've already got pyjama cases on the go for my son, daughter, nephew and sister :snow_grin

If only I could figure out what to get my daughter, she'll be 9 months at christmas, so far all she's got is her Christmas PJs lol.

    Welcome Jenny_Summers

Well done on the colour coding. Very impressed.
If you have an iphone get ' better christmas' for 69p, it saves on paper.

I love homemade gifts. I make everyone chocolates. If I can find my post on it I will post it again for you. It is so easy. You can get lots of people all done at once in on day.

Don't worry to much about your Dd, she won't hold it against you if you don't get her much. She will have fun with the paper the PJs are wrapped in.:xmassign:
  • I don't remember finding anything out about Father Christmas. I think I must have just gradually realised over time.
And of course I believe in him all over again now. :)

  • Just been organising my Christmas bits, found a big stash of beautiful decorations I got reduced to 23p in paperchase. My Partners already banned me from talking about Christmas :D

Sorry I didn't forget you. (must have hit multi quote twice)

    Welcome gupalsmurthpadacal,

I just LOVE paperchase. Can't believe you got decs for 23p.

    Jealous as hell.:snow_grin

Don't know if this has been mentioned but there is a 3 for 2 at Timetospa (elemis stuff) plus 7% cashback at Quidco. :)
  • Jenny_Summers Hope this helps.

Sorry can't find the post now, but who bought the chocolates to put in the hampers ?

Me and Dd make our own chocolates. One year she bought 4 friends home to make them for they Mums.

Lakeland sell silicone moulds for £4.99 Ref 16442
( Sorry I still haven't got the hang of links or multi quotes )

Anyway, get a mould, and some basic eating chocolate (Not to basic :))
You will need White,Milk and Dark.
    Kendal Mint Cake
    Chopped Nuts
    Raisins
    Dried Cranberries

With the above you can make so many different combinations.

Buy some cheap nice mugs out of 99p store etc.
A couple of hot choc sachets for each mug.

In an clear gift bag (lakeland £3 for 50 12007) put some shredded paper, the mug, hot choc, and your home made chocs.

Or you can just put your chocs in on they own.

The initial cost the first year is £8 plus gift. But following years it is a lot cheaper.

Grandparents love gifts made by Dearest Grandchildren :D

Last year I tried to give everyone at least one homemade pressie and because I was so disorganized I damn near killed myself with the amount I had to do finishing it all off in the last few weeks :(
