  • that sounds fab, will take a look, thanks! :) love Nigella!

I use a tub of fresh buttermilk, SR flour, an egg and touch of baking powder, I make the batter thick so they rise up light but spongey, yummm my mouth is watering! :rotfl:

I never remember to buy buttermilk, which is why hers is so good, if you can't find it, I'll have a look and post it on here
  • Own My Own-Im sure she is just saying it as she is a cool teen lol, my sister always says she doesnt want one but she secretly loves it!! If I were you Id still do one every year because I bet she still secretly wants one or at least when she opens it on christmas morning she'll realise she did actually want one! :)

Snugglebunny8-Thanks for the sweetie info, I love Reeces!! Also want to get the Haribo tin/tub for OH. :)

chirpychick-For your MILS nutty choc one could you get a mug thats not actually to do with chocolate like one that says Im nutty or something? Or do a cheapie personalised one on Vistaprint? :) Also look out for mugs on ebay as you could get them cheap if they're nearby and you can collect?

gingernutbizkit-I got some jars from Home Bargains last week for my mums retro sweet tray 99p each. Have also got themin the past from Asda. :)

Possession-What about selling the spare Monopolies on ebay/facebook and use the money to fund your last few bits, sending to a child on postpals or donating to one of the appeals at christmas? (Asda usually has a trolley out where you can leave a present, think theyre for children in hospital) :)

kemo_2002-Why not leave a few little bits to get like a few stocking fillers then you can still have a festive mini shopping trip thats not stressful! I have to leave loads of shopping until Dec 14th when my OH gets paid as theres hardly any spare money but will hopefully be done then with 11 days of no stress left lol. I think you could fill the days easily with xmas movies, xmas trips, walks, visiting, baking etc. :)

I entered a competition today for something that would make a great present for my uncle, I did look to see if it was cheap enough to buy anyway but its £46 lol. (skull shaped bottle of vodka) Theres some skull bottles on ebay that I could fill with vodka but would still work out too expensive so Ill just stick with the test tube flavoured vodkas! Probably be nicer anyway. :D
Ive bought DS a few more things (well picking them up tomorrow) and I got some bargains so very happy. Must stop now though, all that I need to get him is his bike and helmet, choc coins and maybe a few power rangers figures so remind me of that if I buy any more lol! My list of what I need to get for other people is a lot longer though!

    Hi All

I have about 4 days (which equals MANY posts) to catch up on.

Just briefly jumped on to shout....

I HAVE A BOOTS XMAS CATALOGUE!

I was at The Trafford Centre last night and I asked a question about an item and they told me that the catalogues are in the back and not allowed on the shop floor at all yet.

But, Davhulme Retail Park Boots has got them out and available.

Sorry if they are out everywhere and this is old news but I am sooooo excited! :D
    Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once. :D

Oh I'm sooooo jealous :(. Let us know what you think when you've had a flick through :rudolf:
  • Does anyone know when the ideal home christmas magazine is out ? Also the christmas tv and radio times ? I prefer the tv and radio times to the other TV guides as they remind me of how excited I usedto be when mum picked them up when I was a child :)
  • If anyone is near the Wycombe area, they are opening a Toys R Us before xmas. Not sure on a date though.
Still waiting on Hobbycraft too, whos site just Winter!

Payday tomo. Need to start buying sweets to fill up the retro sweet jars im doing.
Also I fancy some tins of chocs too, one for us & one to take back to my mum & dads when we go. Might just add it to the family hamper Im making which the monopoly is already going in & some champers when I find a decent deal.
Need to get some baskets too, might pop wilkos when I can be bothered & also having a massive ebay search this weekend.

Love all the biscuit & cake ideas people are posting, I want to try some of them. I like doing baskets of cookies & cakes are passion!
Also thanks to who ever mentioned the betty croker frosting, will defo give that a go!

This thread is a bad influence....just ordered Rudolph monoply and desperate for it to arrive!
I love the idea of hampers/glass jars for gifts. I did a food hamper for my Grandma a couple of times but hadn't thought about using it for anything else.
So I now need ideas for 4 jars for teenage boyfriends/girlfriends of my 4 kids..... Wow where did they all come from?
And any idea as to where I can get the large glass jars from?
Tes* have the 2012 storage tins from this year in their reduced aisle which might do for the boys but I like the jars for the females.
Also off to £ shop to look for the dvds for my nieces!

i got my glass jars from homebargains this morning, theyre a nice size for cookie-in-jar mixes, or for sweet pots, they have silver clip on lids and were 99p each. They also had larger ones for i think £1.89 each.
    hope this helps
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.
