Thanks. I'll have a look at that. He is so hard to buy for as he has such a short attention span for anything other than xbox, eating or winding up his sister haha13 projects in 2013 0/130 -
I have a fabric Advent calendar too and put little gifts in each day, sometimes chocolate, maybe a Xmas badge, hair grip etc And shiny coins like 1p and 2ps - then they use them to play cards at Christmas. Mine are all older teenagers now and still like seeing if Santa's elves have left anything in the pockets every day!!

Not quite sure what to do re. advent calendars.....for the last 2 yrs DS has had the lego one but a) hasn't played with any of the lego from it since last xmas and b) we really can't afford it this year. They'd be happy with chocolate ones but DD has a problem with one of her adult teeth, it came through with not enough enamel and she isn't supposed to have much sweet stuff, so a chocolate every morning wouldn't be a good idea, although she will have chocolate coins on xmas day. I have put forward the idea of a picture one but they aren't keen! I do have a 'pocket' fabric one already which I used to put sweets in but obviously can't do that either, and I can't afford to buy little presents for it.
So not sure what to do really : (
depending on their ages... could you put 20p in on a couple of days? maybe the odd 50p as a suprise and the odd sweet, a note saying your going to sit as a family and watch a dvd, a note saying you are going to walk around where you live looking at christmas lights, a note saying you are going to make christmas cards things like that? We love pancakes in this house and they don't have to be unhealthy, you could say they can have pancake day or on a weekend they get to stay up an extra hour or just anything like that which they would see as a treat that doesn't cost you anything or much and doesnt revolve around sweets.Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -

I never ever christmas shop in December, LOL.
It's a relic of working on Regent St for years, where you have to have police to control crossing the road at Oxford Circus in December it's so packed. Also I hate shopping anyway so no fun in that for me. I'll make lots of effort to do christmassy stuff with the kids this year.0 -

I save a few little bits like candy canes, christmas tree chocs, and maybe £5 for my hubby so we will still go around the shops in december, have a wander around take in the atmosphere and buy a few little bits. I never feel like I miss out by being organised early.Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
