I had to find the birthday presents for my sister and nephew and had a look at the stuff I've got for xmas for the children. I think I had better be done now. So just hamper stuff to make, and get the house in shape.
I also discovered I have 2 more brand new sealed monopoly games, as well as the one we have in the house. Can't believe I've bought 3 (must have been last year or the year before) when I thought I only had one! Shame really as my nephew loves Cars, one of them is a Cars Monopoly but he's only 4, too young for Monopoly and I bet he won't like Cars any more by the time he's old enough.
  • Chirpychick I love the chocolate and mugs idea! we had some Cadburys mugs with easter eggs last year and the year before but Ive not seen them since, I will look out for some on my travels. If I
had the ones you wanted Id have sent them to you, but mine are Creme Eggs, Mini Eggs and a Double Decker one which just got broken!
  • Re Christmas books, I know there's a fair few new ones coming out soonm, so saving nectar points to get them on 2 for £7 at Sainsburys.

Meantime Ive just re-read 'Xmas Factor' by Annie Sanders, which is lovely and Christmassy, really like that one. 'Night Before Christmas' by Scarlett Bailey also good, though they kind of missed out the presents buying/giving which I always love reading about! but still good. But so far nothing has beaten 'Twelve Days of Christmas' by Trisha Ashley, even though generally Im not a fan of her writing it's the most Christmassy book ever, Ive read it so many times its falling apart, as has DD! but have just started it again, so if anyone wants a recommendation for the bst one to get, so far it's that

can get it on Amazon Marketplace really cheap too :)

It's possible I have a Mars mug. I'll go look.
ETA: Sorry, I don't. I have toblerone and aero, you'd be welcome to either of those.
I also have a heck of a lot of fruit teas I didn't know I had *reminds self to check before buying tea for when my parents visit*.

    LOL bless you.
Hubby will enjoy the trip carbooting on Sunday, it will be my mission now I think.
It is his Birthday on Tuesday and I have to admit I feel kind of bad that he hardly has any presents, he also has to work as saving holiday for the baby's arrival and we aren't going to the cinema until a few days later when our other shop and scan odeon voucher comes through so it would be nice if i could at least find the kit kat one and do that for him, just a little something extra without blowing the bank (also as kit kat chunkys are food I can steal that money from the food budget right :rotfl:)
I was going to do pots of Gold for a few family members but hubby said that his family wouldn't like the "idea" of it as they are highly religious so as they only get token gifts I think this might be more appropriate.
Everything is always better after a cup of tea
  • Afternoon everyone.
I only have 2 people to buy for now as I said yesterday, but I am going to stop looking for a while. I was looking for nephew(7) last night and I gave myself a headache just searching around the web and worrying. OH came in from football training and told me to just stop, relax that there is plenty of time.
So I'll still be joining in the thread (cos I'll get withdrawals otherwise) but I am not actively looking for gifts any more. I've had plenty of bargains so I'm happy.
    Phew :)

well done you!! that's brillaint to be done - I've just got to get the Olympics DVD when it comes out (saving nectar points), candy canes, chocolate advents, selections boxes and choccy coins and then hopefully that's it! waiting for offers and saving points in the meantime to pay with. :D

I just know I will see more stuff that I want to get for gifts but Im determined not to let myself this year, if I see something the kids would love I will suggest it to grandparent/sister etc
  • Dammit I knew there was somewhere I meant to go when I left work.....
WH Smith had some book sets in the window, Christmas ones for £5.
Tomorrow when I leave work I will have a look exactly what they are.

Ah yes, I do still have to get advent calendars and chocolate coins. Not quite sure what to do re. advent calendars.....for the last 2 yrs DS has had the lego one but a) hasn't played with any of the lego from it since last xmas and b) we really can't afford it this year. They'd be happy with chocolate ones but DD has a problem with one of her adult teeth, it came through with not enough enamel and she isn't supposed to have much sweet stuff, so a chocolate every morning wouldn't be a good idea, although she will have chocolate coins on xmas day. I have put forward the idea of a picture one but they aren't keen! I do have a 'pocket' fabric one already which I used to put sweets in but obviously can't do that either, and I can't afford to buy little presents for it.
So not sure what to do really : (
