  • thanks SugaJen for the link! :)

several items in my Amazon basket have dropped quite a lot in price this morning so grabbed a couple, the game I want for DS isnt out til October but it just dropped by £8 so pre ordered it, will watch the price closely so may be able to cancel and preorder when I get VO voucher hopefully later this week, provided I won't lose out on price!

curiouscrafter Im doing my 11 year old daughter a baking hamper, ideas so far are... How to bake (book from great british bake off) cooling rack, scales, bun cases, timer, rolling pin, wooden spoons, whisk, apron, cake tins, cookie cutters, piping bags and nozzles...

She loves to bake and excluding the getting out of oven part I can trust her to do her thing! (she could probly do the getting out of oven bit but I dont let her yet)

Im also doing my 10 year old daughter a hamper which hasnt got a name... shes a notebook freak so its writing paper, books, notepads, stationery and maybe a few personalised items that Ive found on ebay.

Its hard when they get older because they want things which are more expensive which means they get less to open....I know its what they want but I keep thinking their pressies will look bad next to my 4 year olds but what can I do?

Hiya, Im a cake decorator so Ive got a few ideas.....

    -sprinkles and glitter
    -edible sugar decorations
-boxes to pop her cupcake/cakes in
-food colourings for icing (Id recommend the gel ones)
-recipe card box, you can get some really cute ones. I got some in home bargains last year.
-I think aldi this week on there thurs specials has some boxes of cake and bread mix to get here familiar with cooking
-a block of rolling icing which she can use to make decorations
    -sieve (cant spell lol)
    -lemon zester
    -palette knife for spreading icing

  • Hello everyone,

just for those waiting on Father Christmas pinatas photos this is were I am up.....

they have had 2 layers of paper mache and I have now attached the head to the body with more paper mache. So once that dries decorating will hopefully begin either Tuesday or Wednesday. It would have been sooner but the first 2 layers took longer to dry than expected.

I will post photographs and better explanations if anybody needs them later on once I have the finished article :)

P.s Have actually started to worry that are small and I have bought too much to go in them :o

  • Apologies in advance for the essay I am about to write!! :)

Well hello again everyone! Big hugs to those who are having a tough time of it at the mo & hi to the newbies.
    !
Had a pretty rubbish last week myself! Bf got attacked by a rather large dog beinning of the week as was in and out of hospital. Ended up having an op on Friday & is now out and ready to be looked after. Hes been told to take at least a week off work, so the silver lining is he wont be working on my birthday!
    !
Any whos plenty of christmas cheer is needed now to fill me up with happiness again!!
Where to begin?! My parents have just come back from a holiday in Norway where they have all year round christmas shops! So my just a christmas-crazy mum has brought me back some lovely decorations, little stocking for me & the bf and some gorge tree decs. She knows me so well!
    !
Ive spoken to Foyles on the phone re the Rudolph Monopol and they have told me it has been shipped from the US and should be here this week. They still havnt charged me for it & said they wont do until they are officially told by their supplier that its been sent :S odd. But atleast it is on the way! They did refer to it as a book though like someone said in an earlier post, so hopefully they are the one who is mistaken and not me!!
    !
Managned to pop to the Liverpool Costco at the weekend while up visiting my parents. They had alot of christmas stock out, but not as much as last year, so Im guessing they are slowly building it up.
They had a large wooden advent calendar with draws for £30 I think and then a selection of artificial trees and some decs. Didnt see much wrapping stuff, so I will be going back in October when I next visit the parents.
They also had a lot of large kids gifts like, prams, cars, kitchen sets etc. But imo they where pricey and could probably be found cheaper elsewhere.
    !
Also went to my parents local Tesco who had a whole isle of christmas food out, chocs & biscuits etc. Hoping our local one does, going to try and pop in at the end of the week.
Bf goes away with work beginning of oct if hes well enough, so I am thinking of trying to get his bits in then & hiding them in the flat somewhere while hes not there asking me what Im upto!!
    !
Also I read back alotttttt of pages and I am loving reading what people eat on christmas day. Both mine and the bf parents live in Liverpool, so for the past 7 years we have done xmas day main meal seperatly with our own families which always works well. But this year I have a feeling its all going to change and we are going to have to decide who to go to and Im not keen on offending anyone!
I usually cook & home with my mum and its not really something that I want to stop doing so I dont know what out compromise is going to be! Going to sort it soon though because me & my mum like to arrange our 'menu' so we know what to start getting in to save faffing at the end! Will keep you posted on that!!
    !
Well off to tend to the patient :):)
