You lot really are a bad influence - you've made me get that excited about Chrimbo that I have had to stop lurking and was up until late last night looking at all sorts of different crafty things to make.

I made homemade hampers last year and OH wants us to do the same again this year (even though I worked out that it did end up being more expensive!), so I've got to come up with new ideas.

It's really weird that I seem to get more excited by Christmas each year the older I get (and we don't even have kids so I can't blame it on them). So I'm slightly relieved to have found this thread to find that I am not alone :j

I love that there's so many people in the same boat, I wasn't sure whether other people would want to blither on about nothing in particular but festive stuff. I'm so glad there are :D

I bought a selection of Christmas charms cheap from eBay. You get four of each so I've turned them into sets of 2 earrings and 2 barrel charms to go on charm bracelets. It's surprisingly cheap, 200 earring hooks were approx £2 and the barrel charm tops were about 200 for £2 as well and the jumprings were 300 for £1.50 I think. I got the charms for £1.32 so really we're talking just pennies for presents :)

Also made a set of earrings and barrel charms for bracelets out of shoe charms that were sent as a free gift at some point to wear for Cinderella :D Glass slippers yay! :D

I'm not crafty in the slightest but I can wield a pair of pliers :D

i got quality controlled the mince pies with brandy sauce and even thou say so myself it was a 10/10.

If anyone wants earring, beads etc, I use a seller called madcowbeads, they operate on ebay but also have a shop, and theres good bargains, I made a lot of purse charms and they worked out between 5p and 10p each...

Caroline - i'm the same withe the hotels, by looking at the brochere, your allocated a hotel, and that one for the restaurant, but they both share the rest of the facilities.

Our travel agent said that tunisia and Egypt people are starting to go back to, he said there on about sending them back on a refresher visit. Sounds daft as Belfast ur a mojor airport - sure there come up with a 1001 excuses.

Just finished off another scarf for kids xmas present, - getting down the list, the plan is to have xmas all brought by Sept (bar mum, dad + Miss Hoodie) as restart open Uni in Oct... just waiting for results from this yrs courses if I pass its Foundation degree in business.

Miss Hoodie making some more xmas cards later, shes gone in for her exams, shes got freestyle, ballet and tap. xx

Good luck on your grades mum2one! And good luck to Miss Hoodie too!

I don't actually like mince pies :( well..I say that..I haven't actually tried once since I was little! I had one then and was sick soon after so I think I blamed the mince pie and have never eaten one since! Maybe I should try one along with some sauce this time round...

ALJA - I never used to like mince pies and always declined them, then I relented and tried one of my auntie's homemade ones and was totally converted. They tasted nothing like the shop bought ones that had originally put me off them.

Since then I've gone on to make my own and even made my own mincemeat last year which let me leave stuff out that I'm not too keen on and put more in of the stuff that I love.

I do this with the Christmas cake too - I'm not keen on peel so leave this out and chuck in more cherries and cranberries. Yum. Same with the Christmas pudding too. Takes a bit of trial and error to tweak it to get the right balance, but the testing is fun (if not great for the waistline).:)

that is one film i cant bare to watch, it used to be one of my favourites when i was a kid and when i was pregnant with dd i sat down to watch the new one with jonny depp. it got to the part where charlie gets a choccy bar for his birthday and i bawled my eyes out! i felt sooo sorry for him only getting a bar of chocolate! i cried for 3 and a half hours straight and randomly had outburst during the following 6weeks of pregnancy when i thought of it. i cant watch either versions now it just sets me off :o
