Thanks for the food suggestions - trying to think of stuff other than bits for the Christmas dinner as we're going to my brothers for Christmas day this year and we've agreed to go half and half on stuff for the meal but I can't discuss with him what he'd like me to bring just yet as he's a real Grinch and won't even allow the dreaded "C" word to be mentioned around him until at least December 10th  But fizzy pop, crisps, crackers, chocolates etc I'll be able to get cracking on :) I'll slide some bits into the trolley when the OH isn't looking when we go to do our weekly shop later today :p

My Christmas cupboard looks amazingly neat and tidy right now.....until I realize I've put one of my daughters birthday presents underneath all the Christmas ones and EVERYTHING will then have to come out  That's my usual trick!

I'm leaving the majority of DD's pressies to wrap until a freezing cold December night when I can turn the heating up, pop some Christmas music on, make a hot chocolate and wrap them while she's in bed :) but I'm trying to get the rest of the family's presents wrapped in advance otherwise It'll mean finding time to wrap presents for over 30 people in December alongside performing in a Christmas show 3 nights a weeks and a panto 3 nights a week :/ December appears to be a VERY busy month for me! On the upside though I also get to start my maternity leave in December :D My boss is wanting me to work Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day despite the fact I've already said that I refuse to.....luckily for me upon looking at my dates properly about when I can officially start maternity leave it kicks in on the 23rd.....how's that for a stroke of luck eh? :rotfl:
  • Opee92 that's fantastic news! In my last job we broke up for Christmas on the 23rd and didn't go back until a few days in to January, it was great! I do miss that.

Well i've been moving into my new house over the weekend which has been non stop, i've been trying to keep up with this thread so I don't get too far behind! I've managed to have a quick read every day but only had the chance to sit down and write something now. I'm sorry my brain is fried and I can't remember who's said what over the last few pages but i'm glad you're all well and getting on with the Christmas shopping. The great thing about moving is we've had to get all of the Christmas stuff out and it's been great seeing what we've got! I actually forgot I had some of it! :rotfl:

I bought Hocus Pocus the other day ready for Halloween. Normally we don't do much as we were living in a block of flats with no children around so we never got any Trick or Treaters, but now we're living on a large estate with lots of children around so i'm hoping we get some this year! I was going to buy a big tub of the Swizzel sweets but then I thought that if we don't get any children round we won't eat them and they'll go to waste, so I thought i'd buy Cadbury's Heroes as we love them - but then we'll be disappointed if lots of children come and take them all! :rotfl:So we'll have our sweets ready and i'll make OH watch Hocus Pocus, I really loved that film when I was younger!

Anyway i'm so sorry - completely digressed from Christmas! :o

    Hope you're all well. x
  • Cherry, does your Nan have a favourite scent? Did she have a favourite scented flower? Maybe a pot pourri pillow with that in?Smell evokes memories sometimes and even if it doesn't its a nice thing that she won't tire of. I'm sure that the other wonderful ladies will have many suggestions :)

I can't think of a specific scent but I know you can get those scented microwavable heating pads that could be an alternative. I might just make up a cosy gift bag full of warm / cuddly items and then add some of her favourite biscuits.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone :)

Oh yeah and hubby has thrown me a complete curveball. Although he is a complete gadget men and I can sometimes guess what he wants by what has just come out etc, in the 20 years we have been together he has never specifically told me what to buy him - Until now!

He wants an Amazon Kindle Fire HD which I believe is £159. But I have already bought him a watch, polo shirt and other bits and he was "done" too. I don't know what to do now. :(

Could you not ask some of the rest of your family to contribute to it, if my OH wants something big, more than I can afford, I get my parents, his mum brothers/IL, sister/IL and grandparents etc to all give me the money they would normally give/buy something with, normally they are only too keen as it means they don't have to think what to buy!
    Hope this helps
  • I wanted to say thankyou to you guys who helped with the scrapbook ideas but have had to catch up in like 5 pages it's completely gone from my mind who it was but thankyou all the same!

I know somebody was asking about gifts for nana! My aunty had the same as your nana (can't spell it haha) and we used to give her a hamper of food off mum and I'd get her new pjs dressing gown slippers etc and often new underwear! My aunty often got her pictures of the family etc even ones from her childhood but she could never remember who anybody was and it upset her quite a bit

I need help!! My boyfriend has recently said he would like the 3 newest batman films for Xmas and I have no idea what these are called haha I'm hopeless I know one is still in cinema at the moment but can you guys help out a little with the names of the films?
