That is a cracking idea, I've just nipped back and got a couple more to use for this, hope you don't mind
If anyone else is interested/is looking this is the gold one:
I've got a little collection of various ones as our Boyes has had various ones for for the last year for £1.99 each. [STRIKE]Got another this morning'Keep Calm And Log Into Facebook[/STRIKE]
They really are perfect for pots of gold.
I'm struggling with one of my pressies - my nan has alzheimers and I'm finding it difficult to decide what to get her. All I can think of is a fleecey blanket and some biscuits.0 -
I'm about a zillion pages behind again! :rotfl:
My head is spinning with christmas ideas today, There's loads of great ideas on this thread, then NickyBo posted a link to her pin interest, which is brilliant by the way, thanks for sharing it!, that then inspired me to go on a google mission for other christmas ideas and now all I'm left with is a very confused head and a half filled notebook of ideas that barely makes sense even to me!
Everyone seems to have decided to do the christmas sleigh's now which is great, maybe we can all post pictures of them when we've done them and compare. I think i've already managed to source somewhere that sells slightly larger candy canes to make them with as i didn't think the regular type you see everywhere at xmas would be long enough?I'm just going to use double sided tape.
Home bargains and b&m sell something called 'sticky dots' most of the year, they're only 49p and you get quite a lot so would definitely have enough to do these sleighs with, I think that's what i'm going to use.:)Well ladies I've FINALLY got round to sorting my Christmas cupboard.....unfortunately it's now BULGING and I can't fit anymore in there - so much so I've had to start on a new cupboardwhich means my darling OH will be thrilled when he finishes work to find that Christmas cheer has now spread to his wardrobe too

I thought that box at the bottom that's unwrapped said 'Bottled Sex' :rotfl:
I wish my christmas cupboard was as organised at that, I can't wrap yet though. That's something i like to enjoy doing when its truly wintery outside and i can get all cosy with some candles and an xmas movie and a giant starbucks mug filled with hot chocolate.
Which may not be too long off now! It's quite dull and grey and breezy today. Hopefully it will continue (sorry but I'm just really glad summer is coming to and end!) and i can start wearing my all in one pjsHaving a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona0 -

My grandad has dementia and anything bought for him doesn't get used or looked at again, even if it's related to an interest so usually I stick to shortbread, gingernuts, chocolate eclairs (the sweets) and clothes/pyjamas. Hope it's some use.
What about a thick fleecy soft dressing gown?Damzel_In_Distress wrote: »It's quite dull and grey and breezy today. Hopefully it will continue (sorry but I'm just really glad summer is coming to and end!) and i can start wearing my all in one pjs

I don't post very often but the first thing that popped into my mind was a photo album with special family photos in to help her remember.13 in 2013 challenge 9/130 -
As of this week I've decided to start getting a couple of Christmas food bits (non-perishables) alongside my normal weekly shop in the hopes that buying just one or 2 extras each week I won't notice the money disappearing and hopefully will save me some pennies when I have to do the dreaded "Christmas Shop" - only problem is I have no idea what I could be getting in.......anybody wanna help me come with some ideas? It'd be very much appreciated!!!! :T
I've already got the tins of sweeties (quality street/roses), my stuffing mix and chicken gravy in the cupboard under the stairs, and have bacon and cocktail sausages in my freezer (for sausages wrapped in bacon and buffet tea - was a bag of 60 for £1 in Tesco a couple of weeks ago). I'm also on the look out for crisps/biscuits on offer, the wine to go with dinner and for bucks fizz on xmas day and any drinks we might want (soft drinks and spirits). It's difficult without knowing what kind of day you have but I am trying to get all my dry/freezable goods over the next few weeks when I see them reduced and my plan is that I will only have to get the fresh stuff in the week before - veg, fruit etc.0 -
Hi Gleek
Thanks for that.
I totally know what you mean about things not been used / forgotten about and she will definitely forget where she has got them from.
She gets quite cold as she is very frail so I think comfy things are the way to go.0 -

Opee92-I LOVE your xmas cupboard! :T My 'xmas' cupbaord is a complete mess, everything shoved in amongst shoes and bedding!
What about: Crackers, Snack tubs like cheese footballs, twiglets etc, Pringles, tins of chocolate, nice biscuits, jarred things like pickled onions, nuts, xmas puddings/cakes usually have a long date (once they're out, wont be long!) fizzy drinks? x
Cherry24-I think a fleecey blanket and biscuits would be perfect for your nan. I find it best to get my nan things that will get used like food etc. x
Damzel_In_Distress-I am loving the colder weather, Christmas is comiiiiiing!
Chickywiggle-I hope you feel better after doing some christmassy things, I can relate to useless schools, HMRC and skintness! xxx
Popped to Sainsburys earlier and got DS a small trivial pursuit london 2012 game for £1 down from £10 and a set of Olympic magnets for 35p, probably for his stocking. Also a couple of make your own fairy garden sets for 30p each! Lucky we had some nectar points so paid with those as we are skinto.'They only had one cow!'0
