Thank you Caitlyn for your nice words, it made me smile to think of you hearing the song. I always remember my mum dancing around to the Mike Oldfield Christmas song, so I've heard it over the season, it makes me smile as its a happy memory. X

The worrying thing is I can't see it getting any better next year. Everyone is worried about spending money. And although I know that that is not the real meaning, Christmas used to be the ONLY time of the year I pushed the boat out.
I am worried about what the new year will bring, and I will be just as worried next Christmas.
I have already mentally started working out what I can get present wise for little money next Christmas. Many years ago, (when I first became single), money was very tight, but I looked at it as a challenge. But now I just seem to have no fight in me. I work really hard,(had 2 jobs up until last week), and still have nothing left. Christmas just feels like something I could do without right now.

Sorry for being so miserable :(

OMO - as hard as it may be next year, you seem very skilled at bargain huning and are very creative which is really a major 'fun bit' of xmas and life. I am not sure I would be able to do half the things you do. seriously. you are a source of inspiration to me so please dont give up the fight.

Thanks for sharing this! It totally reminded me of the trees we used to have when I was little. I've got a bit fussy about my trees and your post (and the bit in Arthur Christmas that I've just watched, where he walks in and sees the tree in the little girl's house) have made me decide to ensure I have a tree dedicated to my childhood next year. OH is agreed! I'm now wondering if you can still get those plastic lantern version of coloured lights and those shiny foil baubles...

I was thinking the same about the lantern lights I'd also love to add chocolate foil wrapped baubles too but I have 2 huskies who I just know would have them off within mins lol. I've been so OCD Over the last few years with my perfect tree that matches the colour scheme of the lounge that really had no character at all, was very clinical in fact white with white and silver decs cascading white ribbons and white LED lights, that's it now next years gonna be all about colour although i still think I'll pass on the tinsel lol x
  • Sorry havent caught up completely as still feeling ill and have a million things to do argh!

Caitlyn-Wow your photos are like something out of a Christmas film. :)

MetalMand-Hope youre feeling 100% before the big day! x

    Where are you Nanamia? xxx

Still feeling ill, Im now also feeling like you do before you get a full blown stomach bug (nauseous, cold chills, faint, icky) please please let it not turn into one!!
Im trying to get as much done tonight as possible so I dont have much to do tomorrow as we'll be out most of the day! Ive sewn the reindeer on my DS' pyjamas, not going to put his name on as planned as feel too sick to concentrate properly tbh but can always add at a later date. Wrapped some presents and put most of the stockings together but all the stocking fillers still need wrapping. Also having a nightmare with hampers, the boxes/baskets Ive bought are too small and no matter how I put the stuff in it just looks like a load of random stuff shoved in a basket!! I have about 8 to arrange and wrap in cellophane and of course I cant find my tissue paper so am having to use torn up wrapping paper to line them.
Its not all bah humbug though as had a nice day christmassy shopping with DS and my brother. :)
Had better get on with it!

Confession time. I've never had a colour coordinated tree. My tree has 6 of those shiny foil baubles on from my childhood and 10 from a set I bought last year in a little shop that was closing down. So you can definitely still get them. We also have a miniature tree which has lantern Christmas lights on this year :D so good luck in your quest!

Thanks OMO! Moved onto new thread and subscribed. Little sad to leave this one behind though!
