Hi Snugglebunny let's hope Friday bring the start of your festive fun. I've missed you. X
Msgigglewick that link is oh so true in my house too. Please enlighten me to what Martin is doing at the top of the page? I'm on the iPad and missing out!!! Even worse I don't know what I'm missing out on!
Linky I'm not sure whether to congratulate you or not on saving presents for next year - is there any length you won't go to avoid wrapping? :)

Woo hoo it's DGDs second birthday today and officially the start of our Christmas :) In a couple of hours I will be joining those in panic mode. Although weirdly I enjoy that too :) xxx

Our posts must have crossed mumofthreeplusoh. I too am with you on that "take us as you find us" sounds just perfect to me too xxx

If you roll over him he disappears and santa appears lol

WHY IS IT WET AND MISERABLE?

    :(

I am feeling very angry about this. I want it to be cold and crisp with the whisper of snow in the air!

Glad everyone seems to be getting there with their preps, although sending hugs to those who are stressing :( I had a major stress on Tuesday, it was my day off work and I worked absolutely solidly all day, I wrapped all the presents, made soup, blanched and froze parsnips for Christmas dinner, prepared and froze an onion/carrot/celery base for future soup, cooked my ham, and made mince pies and sausage rolls. Felt slightly better after that.

I realised why I'm feeling so unprepared - I am a teacher and this year with the way Christmas falls we break up on the 21st. I looked at last year's dates and last year we broke up on the 16th! As Christmas fell on a Sunday. So I had a whole extra week off work to do all the preparation and baking last year. This year I just don't feel Christmassy yet and feel like it can't possibly only be next week!

Ooh in other exciting news, I am not sure I mentioned, but OH told me he has booked us for afternoon tea at Fortnum and Mason's for my birthday which is over the Christmas period :j so that should be lovely :)

Just a few more days left now ladies! We can do it!

What a busy few days! Every lunch hour has been spent running around shops. Most of the time its waiting in a queue wrapped around the length of the shop! Seems silly when you are just getting little bits but has to be done!

In reality got very little left to "buy" which basically consists of tesco white chocolate, green ribbon, nieces birthday card, scratchcards, foreign exchange and "googly" eyes for my cookie monster jar Ive made for niece! Compared to the massive A4 size list at the start of the week Im very pleased :D

MAJOR QUESTION COMING UP. I had spent Sunday making chocolate slabs, have lovely tins to present them in, turned out wonderful. By Tuesday they had all those "fat" spots on the surface and look awful :( How do I avoid this happening?! Ive about 9 to make and having 3 done had really helped but now Im going to be tight for time this weekend so they need to turn out right the first time!! Was my problem that I had put them in the fridge maybe?

Anyway! with BF buying a new phone (arrived yesterday) I decided to make up a very quick, very cheap "phone hamper" which bf knows nothing about. I got loads of stuff in debenhams lastnight reduced to £2! and fills the box (that I took from work and will just wrap in paper) perfectly! this will all be wrapped in my room and hidden until bf is asleep on christmas eve thats when the fun starts!! (also doing a treasure hunt to find the foreign currency eventually lol) With the foreign currency Ive bought a really nice christmas box from sainsburys and filled with mini toiletry stuff and the money will be hidden underneath :D (im keeping the christmas box though lol)

We also had secret santa in work yesterday and it was insisted that everyone open their gifts (I hate this as its the one time of year I prefer to wait lol) I got a lovely kitchen timer and a baking journal - if they saw the disaster of the chocolate slabs they might ask for a refund lol but Im usually quite good at baking and they call me "the expert" in work :T

Getting hair cut tonight as my own treat and then off to see sister who is celebrating her birthday today. Cant be a late one though because I really need to continue wrapping up and finishing off hampers. Got a half day tomorrow in work so that will help but only gains me an extra few hours in reality!

Hope everyone else is enjoying the build up and not getting too stressed!!
Life is what you make it.

Having a ( late ) elevenses break, so just popped back on. Forgot to say earlier - a while ago, people were asking for recommendations for good Christmas books, so here are 2 of mine:-

    1) " It started with a kiss" by Miranda Dickinson. Just finished this last night, it kept me guessing until the end! Up to her usual high standard.

    2) " The Xmas Factor" by Annie Sanders ( actually 2 people, Annie and Meg, a collaboration ) I read this every Christmas, it's a favourite!

Sorry if these have been posted before, hope it may help anyone still looking for a last minute book pressie.

Going now, to put up the Christmas cards, last few bits to wrap, make 2 cushion covers ( from a fleece £3 from Primarni, very MSE ), then poss some baking this pm.

Hugs to those who need them, enjoy the day xxx

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hello all!

Maybe it's because I don't have children (hence no mountain of pressies to wrap/school concerts/parties to juggle) but not feeling stressed at all. I've even convinced Hubby to do the last minute food shopping on Sat on his way home from footy (he said he was going to Mr A's to buy me some stocking fillers so...) In fact, Christmas day could happen tomorrow and I'd be cool...no wait! Turkey's in the freezer so maybe not tomorrow ;)

Last day at work tomorrow and I intend to relax all weekend and watch as many xmassy films as possible (and tidy up). Visits to my 2 bessies and my family to exchange gifts and then cook the turkey planned for Christmas eve. Can't believe i's almost here :)

    Hi all,
    Help please
On the blog today – I suggest giving a homemade curry kit for Christmas. Check it out please as I would really like your help.

I think I would like to expand on this with some sort of series on curry etc next year.

So I was wondering if you would be willing to share
    • What sort of things you might like to see in a homemade curry kit to gift people
    • what is the main thing you want from your curry (eg easy, quick, few ingredients only, healthy, vegetarian, to stand out, curries for children etc etc)
    • what sort of series on curry might be interesting to you.
    • anything else? Pretty please
You can do this either via the comment page on the blog or here.
    Shout with any questions.

hey, on tuesday i went to wilkinsons for a wonder and ended up buying lots of xmas decorations for half price including a 'santa is here' wooden sign, and 'santa's key', plus tonnes of wooden tree decorations. You should check it out (if not for this year then for next year as a very MSE measure)

I have read it started with a kiss. I really enjoyed that. I have added the xmas factor to my library request list. Thank you.
