I've been ill this week, Infact we all have. Started with a sickness and diarrhoea bug, then into a cold.
morning all
Nic DH has been like this for over 2 weeks now, and its obvious he feels quite poorly with it, so much so that yesterday got him to emergency doctor who gave him antibiotics and said if no better by Friday go to gp for a further review.
Anyway hoping to get tree up later today and some presents wrapped - its starting to feel a bit like christmas but still got lots to do.#40 Save £1 a day for Christmas 2020 £109/366

I'm sorry lovelies, but have just had an awful argument with my Step Dad and am in much need of virtual hugs and cheering
I run two businesses from home and as already mentioned am trying to complete baking for 7 food hampers today. Earlier in the year it got back to me that my S-Dad had complained I only ever see them when I want something (we have a strained relationship) vowing independence, I made sure I never went to them for anything. When car broke down in November I sorted it myself and then got a very angry S-Dad telling me I should have gone to him, I don't appreciate his help etc, etc.
So now car is broke again, I asked if I could borrow his tools and drive to fix it. He has now taken over and demanded I take the car round at 12.30ish so it (and I) can spend the afternoon being prodded and poked by him and his mechanic friend. I politely told him I knew how to fix it, the part hasn't arrived yet and I am not stripping down the side of the car for them just to look and then seal it back up without fixing the part. Queue a very heated argument between him and me. He doesn't work, spends his time visiting friends and basically living a leisurely life (which tax payers are subsidizing) and when I explained I have accounts to do, cards to fill in on behalf of my elderly grandmother, visiting my grandmother, orders to fill, staff to pay, taxes to file, picking up shopping, baking cooking the dinner, cleaning the house etc etc he just scoffed.
I ended up putting the phone down in a fit of tears. I am now having to go round and eat up my entire day for him to play mechanic over something I could have done my self - I am far too soft for my own good
sending (((((((((hugs)))))))))) hope it gets fixed quick#40 Save £1 a day for Christmas 2020 £109/366

Oh dear Fiesty - poor you! Time is in short supply at the moment, so can imagine how you feel "wasting" a day. If the part hasn't arrived yet, can't you wait until it has, then maybe go over to stepdad's with it for a quick visit? Maybe saying you only have x hours free, so would be good if he could help then? Sorry, HTH, sending hugs x0

I agree with Linda-Lou Fiesty - tell him you know what is wrong, and whilst you appreciate his help it cannot be fixed until the part arrives.
Once if does if he is still offering to help you will drop it round on x day.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Sorry for the long post but you lot dont half know how to talk and wanted to respond to a few thingspinknfluffy28 wrote: »Well, its 4am & im wide awake! Typical, a day off work & im up earlier than usual, which means im gonna be shattered by tea time & a grumpy mummy!
Ive a lot on my mind so im best off downstairs browsing the web for a while rather than tossing & turning in bed keeping dh awake! Our plans for this weekend have changed a bit, as his psycho-ex decided to ring an hour before he was due to pick his kids up to postpone till today as they have something else to do. grrr, prepared now for not seeing them until after xmas as this usually marks the beginning of her games, but im not gonna let it bother us, were doing all we had planned anyway, with our 2 dd's, and a few extra treats too!
I agree how quiet it is on here, & hope its just the pre-xmas rush.
with all i have had to contend with these last few weeks, i would have been really down without the kind words & support of all you lovlies, so may i take this oppertunity to wish each & everyone of you a very merry christmas, and a healthy & happy new year xx
Sorry to hear about more trouble with DH ex, you would think with it being christmas there would be more understanding, can only hope things turn out better for you allpinknfluffy28 wrote: »Oh no, how can i, mrs super-organised have missed something? Have realised i have no teacher gifts! I need 3, and quick!!! dont want anything edible as i have heard so many people say they just get thrown away, dont want mugs, flowers or wine, and dont want to spend more than a couple of £! I cant believe ive forgotten them :-(
How about a tin of sweets to share? (Sainsburys had them for £3.99 when I was in lastnight) I keep thinking Im going to forget something this week its the one thing I dread, I now have lists of lists of lists to make sure it doesnt happen lolaliaslotte wrote: »At work [S*perdr*g] have some nice bits in work now for around the £2 mark, including lovely big mugs [in a 'soft and snuggle' range and a 'leafy and lovely' range]. Having completed my teaching placements, I know just how much a decent mug is worth in the staff room lol and they'd make a change from the 'teacher' mugs you see. We've also got handcream for 99p and candles sets for just a couple quid [in our 'relax and unwind' range]. All are of course 3for2. Perhaps something like that might be useful, especially if you don't have much time.
Thanks for this I still have £2 left of secret santa budget, had found a baylis & harding spa cracker for £1.99 in sainsburys but of course sold out and discontinued  So maybe try in there for something. So far with the £10 budget Ive been able to get 3 bottles of kopparberg (the only thing that friend in work has told me that the girl Ive picked likes and I know she does as was evident at a recent night out :rotfl:) and a big box of malteasers so hopefully if I can get a mini pamper set I can wrap it as a night in hamper type thing. Wont go to the expense of a basket though so going to get a box to put it all in out of card factory or maybe find somthing similar in poundland / poundworld just awkward with having 3 bottles plus others to wrap all for one person. Has to be in for this Thursday so can get the box on my lunch hour on Monday
Had a great 24 hours - which was needed after a VERY stressful day / week at work cant really say much due to data protection and all that but put it this way theres a colleague (we are a team of 3) who doesnt pull their weight, ignores our advice, steps on our toes and goes against a promise we had made to a customer making for an upset customer / angry weeclick and stressed manager!:rotfl:
Met up with my mum lastnight to do a bit of shopping (trying to help mum shop for my sister and give her ideas of things she can get me!) Nephew and niece both been ill (they live with my parents) poor things. I gave them their santa bags last night in the hope of cheering them up (the ones I posted up recently) but poor wee dote too ill to care and just listless on the sofa. On antibiotics and painkillers so hopefully pick up in next few days. I thought of taking my mum to a few of my favs (card factory, £land etc) but we left it too late and the shops literally closed 2 mins before we got there  got going to the market for the last half an hour which was fun at least. Plenty people out lastnight with their work parties, Im all one for people letting their hair down and having fun, didnt appreciate some random coming up to my mum and calling her a !!!!!! though, disrespectful at best. I was so angry started swearing at him etc mum thought it was hilarious lol.
We had our curry and hot chocolate and was lovely just to spend time together, its quite rare the three of us especially now I go to the gym most evenings too I get no real time for any sort of a social life!
BF kept hinting that the phone I had passed down had had its day ( I agree pixels half dead, buttons not working and sim card now not reading) I had originally offered to pay for new iphone 4 on ebay with my overtime money due on Tuesday but after discussing it its been decided to take it from our savings for holiday and BF will pay it back monthly so its paid off before the holiday and still works out cheaper than a contract! So I was lucky to go on ebay today and get a 16GB iphone 4 in extremely good condition for £175 - very pleased since most of the auctions were ending at about £225+ now means BF will need phone cover and a few accessories so might buy a few things in £land this week (well after giving me £40 at weekend think its the least I can do)
Also got treated to the hobbit today didnt have to pay a penny, even malteasers had been bought! I did insist on paying for the coffee though lol. Great film, 3 hours flew in could of watched hours more!! Cant wait for the next part now, why they had to split it in 3 is so annoying(Im just impatient) And then on to a meal in my fav restaurant (very spoilt today!) Have to make the owner some fudge I think as a christmas gift, he always treats us very well every time we go (free starter desert and half price drinks! plus gave us an extra 10% off as a christmas gift!) Whole meal including drinks came to £20.85!
Bf now finally sitting writing christmas cards after weeks of nagging! Got a few special family cards to write out myself now, and going to make a start on finalising hampers. Lots of baking going on too woohoo just need to find time to sleep :T
^ This was to be posted lastnight before the forum wouldnt load :mad:Life is what you make it.0 -

Risky B how do I follow your blog please? Is there a link I need to follow?
The hampers I made went down a treat; they all kept laughing and saying ..."OMG there's still more in here!" Considering it was all on a budget I was really pleased with the end result. Will definitely be making hampers again next year
Hi Archiebear,
I will be giving hampers out this year to my friends and family. I will be giving my first one out on tuesday. I only hope their reactions will be as good as yours were. :T
