Just back from shopping, and I'm ashamed to say I have a confession to make. While out I had a make over at the Benefit counter. I must admit I've been desperate to try Benefit stuff, as have not tried any at all. I am really really pleased with the results, my niece said it looked lovely and thinks, I should buy all the stuff. Plus when I got home DH thought it looked great and made me look at least 5 years younger (possibly more).
Well as you can imagine make over, plus weak will, plus niece's influence led to an in, but I think this is justifiable.
In - Benefit Hervana Blusher - now for the justification a) the blusher really suited my colouring and looked good on me b) I don't actually own a blusher, just don't usually use them c) I am determined to make more effort with how I look which means wearing makeup more often and makeup that suits my skin tone etc better.
Also have free GWP 7.5ml the porefessional
I loved the other stuff she used as well which were high beem highlighter and Hello Flawless liquid foundation.
I think I may buy the high beem next month, do like the way it looked and don't have a highlighter, and am considering buying the Hello Flawless when my foundation runs out which could be a long time.
I'm 36 now and with 40 creeping ever closer have realised I can't really get away with not wearing any makeup at all anymore, I just end up looking a scruffy mess. At the moment I'm using new EL one on weekends and when I go out and using the No.7 BB cream that I forgot I bought (on a whim before joining the challenge) for work, as don't have enough time to apply proper foundation before work. I still have one more No.7 foundation in the stash but it seems to be too dark for me, so waiting to see if it suits better in the summer, if not will either GA or TA.
Sorry for the really long post.
I adore benefit stuff, no idea what to do with most of what I own,but I love that it lasts and I think it feels so luxurious - almost bought their skin firming cream when i saw it in boots today on the reduced shelf - but it was still £9.50 and realistically, none of the others have worked when ive tried them (well - i say worked - made any difference is more true!) so I didnt bother....may yet go back and get it to give it a chance though, just not yet.
Did have one IN though - sample size of the benefit tinted moisturiser. I dont use foundation as I still havent found one that doesnt bring me out in spots - but thought Id give this a whirl....Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -

I'm dying for a mocha but I've run out of coffee! How nice to have amaretto biscuits as well *is jealous* :rotfl:
I've painted my nails Glamour Pink by Leighton Denny. I received this colour in a reduced gift set and really didn't think I'd like it but it has turned out to be my favourite of the three
Maddiemay - I couldn't figure out what to use as a mould for my Baby Face cleanser experiment but I've just ordered a mini muffin silicone tray thingy as it was pretty cheap on eBay. I'll let you know how I get on with my version0 -
I have a UU No.7 Radiance revealed Exfoliator 15ml - was nice enough, but nothing special, have another in the stash already. Think I'll get a different one out of the stash though to use next. I have also UU another one f those horrid Garnier body sachets. I think I need to stop applying for random freebies as I don't like most of them and they are just adding to the stash.0

Suidreams - I'd give away your remaining sachets of the Garnier moisturiser! It's not worth using something that makes you unhappy, especially as it was a freebie:D
Well done for planning to pack minis of things rather than buying more toiletries when you're off on hols :T I'm sure it's habit changes like this that make the most difference0 -
Thank you Evilsquid I will try some of those ideas to try and get through this pile of shampoo and conditioner quicker.
Maddiemay Thank you for the info re itchy scalp stuff.
Trudji I think the benefit stuff was nice and skin still ok tonight, I think I will buy more of their stuff. Unfortunately the pretty packaging etc encourages me to buy more stuff. I'm really enjoyig trying new brands for some reason I've mainly bought No.7 stuff and thoroughly bored with their products now. Think I've stuck with them as I never have a reaction to their products, but after trying other things, I think i'm safe as long as I stay away from the cheap brands.0 -

Think I'll have to they are just not for me. I'm even excited to use the really boring massive bottle 9f body lotion I've got open after these sachets.0 -
Bad Gal doesn't work for me either, but I love Lemon Aid, Highbrow and use Creasless Shadow Liner in Skinny Jeans when I am making an effort, other days it's an Estee Lauder Liner Pencil. I wondered about trying the Dandelion powder as I am often as pale as a ghost, will have to ask for a try out when I get near a Benefit counter again.
Asked Emma about her Bad Gal mascara and she said she's gone off it and prefers one she has in a purple tube. So I won't be buying any Glamour mags this month.
I've tried Dandelion before maddiemay and it was lovely. In fact I think that worked more as a highlighter on me than the highlighter products themselves. I got a Powder Pop box for Christmas from Emma some years ago which contained Dandelion, Hoola and Dallas.Out of the three I didn't rate the Hoola one as it made my face look muddy. Actually have still not found my HG bronzer since Models Prefer went defunct. Theirs was the only one that looked natural. At the moment I have the LG Bronze N Brighten which is ok but no match for it.Just back from shopping, and I'm ashamed to say I have a confession to make. It was at one of these makeovers (at the Benefit Brow Bar in Trafford Centre) that I bought the Pearl Meets Girl and had Emma with me so know where you're coming from. I saw a make up demo on QVC once where the presenter stated that a good blusher can knock years off your age and I personally don't feel made up without it. I'm glad you've found one you like. I like the Benefit blushers as mentioned above but also love the Laura Geller ones although most of them are more highly pigmented than the Benefit ones. Have fun with yours.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

ValM - really wish I could get through the shampoo and conditioner stash faster, how are you managing it. I had a problem last summer where my usual shampoo and conditioner suddenly started to make my scalp itch, so think I must have bought practically every brand going in desperate attempt to fix it. The problem is now I have to use them all up. The annoying thing is I really really loved the Loreal Everpure and my hairdresser even commented on how nice my hair was looking, but won't be able to buy in for ages now. Currently using V05 cherish my colour scalp not itching, but think my hair colour is fading faster, so can't wait till its gone.
We're away for a week next month, so instead of doing what I usually do when holidaying in the UK, basically not taking many toiletries and buying most if it when I get there and end up bringing all the half used items back. (This is me thinking less packing and as we're in the UK, I can buy exactly the same items for the same price when I get there, but realise now I'm just adding to the stash) I have chosen mini sizes of everything from the stash to pack, so now won't need to buy anything.
It's been a LHJ with the shampoo and conditioner. The Ojon one has lasted me ages because of the smell. I've bought others whilst using it as a) I didn't take enough away with me last October so bought the huge bottle of Tresemme and b) bought some Elvive when my hair really dried out from using the Tresemme (forgetting all about the Ojon I had!!). Have made a real effort to get through the Ojon before buying anything else.
Like you I end up buying other products for holidays even in the UK - hence why I have the travel sizes of Aussie to use up.HappyTorty wrote: »Going to do my nails now. Funnily enough the colour I'm wearing at the moment looks like mocha and ameretto biscotti colour - it's OPI Wooden Shoe Like to Know. WNBA as it's disappointingly unlike the colour in the bottle. In the bottle it has little golden shimmers. On my nails it's flat brown colour.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I mentioned the other day that the Origins moisturiser was not working for me. I hadn't replaced it with another moisturiser from the stash and put it on yesterday morning. My skin was so dry because I'd been out the night before and not washed my make up off. The cream worked wonders then. Put it on again last night and my skin is really smooth this am. Perhaps it's better suited to drier skin. Will keep using it for now. It's only a sample tube anyway.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Have you tried the Rimmel Sunshimmer bronzer, its the only one that suits me. Have tried others, but DH tells me they look awful on me.
Looking forward to using the blusher, I haven't actually used any since I was about 16:eek:. Going to try more benefit (and EL) products as I run out of things. I see a lot more beauty counter make overs in my future. I've been lucky so far and they've given me lovely natural looks.0
