I found it quite funny that a friend of mine, not close to at all invited me to her evening do,then i get a text a few months later asking if i want to go to the wedding all day, found out her hotel specified they had to have a certain amount of people and so many couldnt make it so she wanted to upgrade people else they get charged.0

I am limited to 45 for the day no-one is getting a plus one even people with partners who i know are not getting one
for the evening i am unlimited but still not having plus ones unless i know who they are, like them, and have spent at least a bit of time with them, and i think they are likely to still be together then (which at least a few are not lol)The only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -
We are over-inviting - we would like 75 people with 85 currently on the guest list but around 1/3 of our friends / family are aboard so we are expecting several declines unfortunately. Also, I think we could squeeze the budget if everyone said yes.
In your case, I would send out exact numbers then invite more if and when any declines are received. I have been "upgraded" before and was fine with it - I think most people understand the number / cost pressure.
Oh and for the cousins I think it's only fair to invite both fiance's.0
