Seem to be a lot of threads hereabouts lately where perfectly good questions break down into a bunch of squabbling for no reason :(

Well I have said my piece and shan't squabble anymore :A And I'm pretty sure Mojisola is not petty enough to turn this into a 'thing' so hopefully there will be no more squabbles on my perfectly good question :)

Thats what we are doing too - however, having been to weddings without my now fiance, as the bride & groom didn't really know him (Long distance relationship - we spent our time just together mainly!) and there was a group of us friends going, I would urge you to make sure that there isn't only one person out of the group not bringing a partner (It doesn't make for a fun day) - in fact i declined the last wedding invitation I got for this reason, i didn't fancy takings a days annual leave to spend watching other couples have fun, when my fiance wasn't invited (We weren't engaged when the invites went out - but we were before I ahd to send back the RSVP)

I wouldn't *not* invite someone's BF/GF, but if they'd only been together for 3 weeks before the wedding I might think differently! :) Also, our friends who are in couples are not the types who'd be so rude as to ignore everyone else. So single peeps within our group are perfectly happy not to have a plus one :) It works for us!

Thats good then, whatever works for you

I'm still undecided what to do about plus ones - part of me really wants to not invite the now husbands of the friends that didn't invite my fiance (We've been together about 8 years), but thats just the spiteful part of me, i wouldn't really do it - although i have no desire for some of them to be there.
The group of friends were not so rude to ignore me, but it was more that the more drink went in, the more they coupled up and were up dancing to the slow songs and stuff!. Some of the weddings i've been to now, i'd nearly rather go without the fiance, as i have so much fun dancing with the girls!

Hmm, it's a tricky one lazer! They were wrong not to invite him imho, especially as you got engaged shortly after the invitations went out.

How's the weight loss going btw? xx

I know i have to invite them - altough i'm secretly hoping some of the "friends" don't turn up never mind the husbands - group of uni friends, so it would be very wrong just to leave 1 or 2 out!

Well I've dropped 2 dress sizes, but still not lost any actual weight in about the last 6 odd weeks or more (I think the scales are faulty!)

Oh, that is a tricky one! You could always cite pressure on numbers, and remind them that you didn't mind when your OH wasn't invited to theirs... ;)

Woo hoo on dropping 2 dress sizes, that's way more important than what the scales say! :T

When we married we invited everyone that we wanted to the wedding. A couple couldn't make it as they were doing something else but we didn't then contact someone to ask if they wanted to come to the whole thing instead of the evening as it's then obvious they are second choice and I know i wouldn't like it. :o

All couples and families were invited as such, I wouldn't go to a wedding without my husband and so it would seem strange to me not to have invited both people.

I'm ignoring the scales now - although keeping up with the weigh ins - mainly just to make sure i'm not putting t on - as long as i'm happy with my body on the wedding day i'm not really bothered!
The OH still hasn't finalised his guest list - so i'll see what the numbers are like!

I'm tempted by the idea of just inviting the husbands to the evening do!

We had everyone who we invited come, so don't bank on a drop out rate! I'd definitely only invite 80 and then if some say no, offer their place to another you'd like to be there. As for our '+1' guests, only if we knew them fairly well or they were husband/wife. Singles (without partners) got invited as such, not as 'XXX + Partner'.
