  • Interesting thread - it is impossible to be 100 per cent vegan as tyres are not vegan, so unless you never use any type of transport; then you are not truly living a vegan lifestyle.

As with all things human, inevitably there are roolz attached to all lifestyle choices and some are adopted and others eschewed. I think we all owe it to ourselves to be comfortable with the idea that we are on a vegan journey and striving for a vegan lifestyle rather than thinking that because we do XYZ that we have arrived.

I am finding the journey so much fun..........:T

Yes I agree grumpysincebirth I think it is a journey as well.

I do think it is a human desire to be part of a group identity which makes it hard especially when veganism is so rare. But then I always find it easier to go my own way in life and not to be part of the collective.

I find sometimes that if I am around other vegans I don't mention my little slip ups in case they scream "you're not a true vegan" ha ha :o

I really like being vegan apart from obvious things like eating out at mainstream restaurants.
I always say it proudly when people ask even though they usually have a blank stare on their face.:rotfl:

  • I have a little announcement to make...

After a week or so of mulling over the things being discussed here, I've decided to go back to Vegan.

I posted here that I was vegan for 8 years, but 6 years ago started eating cheese and greek yoghurt. Well, I've enjoyed the experience of cheese-eating, but now I've been reminded of all the issues I used to care so deeply about. I've also been reminded how easy and enjoyable vegan cooking had been, and recently I've been starting to feel that dairy doesn't really agree with me that well.

So, when I move into my new house (about 4 weeks), nothing animal-related (as far as possible!) is coming with me. I'll have a fresh new start with a vegan diet.

    Hooray!

I used to be a vegan but I'm alright NOWWWWWWWWWWWW! :)
I was vegan from about the time my dad died when I was 15 until I was 20. I think it was more of a statement it gave me control over something.
I found it easy as a student to be an unhealthy vegan - beer and chips featured on the menu regularly LOL;)
I still do not like milk, it does taste of cows.

  • Hiya all,

(Great thread) I've just turned vegan and am need of some help finding organic vegan supplements- on the vegan society shop there's 90 for £4.99, but I've just called up and they're not organic. Any ideas where I can get some organic ones- I've tried google but there are 1000s of hits and to be honest I don't really know what I should go for being new to veganism...

    Thanks, Amy
  • I'm just about to go vegan. I've been veggie for about 20 years and have been promising to do it for yonks, but finally someone reminded me about the cows on dairy farms crying (ok mooing) for their babies when they're taken away, and I got all upset and thought it was about time I stopped being a hypocrite. Wish me luck!
