hi,
thanks for the replies and thanks so much for the link didnt manage to find that on their website, it was all about their services and how they provide such a good service hmmmmn:cool:
i wish starrybee i could squish it into a smaller package but sadly i cant.
i agree as well there will be people not reaslising not just the stamps prices have increased but they have changed the weight bandings as well.
had a look and posting something that weighs 750 g now for 2nd class would cost me £2.61 but after monday would cost £2.20 so some larger items are cheaper or less of and increase.
havent really looked into it before but is there any sort of competitors /competiton for royal mail for smaller items? i cant imagine unless i was selling bulk i would be able to make any sort of savings on items under 100g?
Royal Mail Cynical Ploy
Website down today 28/4/12 cynical ploy to stop people purchasing stamps before the deadline I definitely think so.0 -
Most of my items are around 650-700g s the price "hike" means my current rate of £3.05 is now only £2.70.
There are a lot of sellers in the same position, and the packet rate for items up to 750g is a great idea for encouraging multiple purchases of smaller items for one fixed P&P price.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
If you are sending something between 750g - 1kg you're better off with https://www.myhermes.co.uk, who have full tracking for just £3.300

Those prices look competitive and I do keep considering opting for something like this for some of my heavier pieces
At the moment though three things stop me. Firstly I can think of no possible safe place for the times I need to go out . Secondly the extra time this will build into my deliveries as I am lucky that most of my parcels get their next day. lastly though nearly everything I sell is excluded from carriage so I would be looking to send with no insurance. that isn't necessarily a problem as I am confident with my packaging but it's worth considering.
I can see that one day there will be a tipping point when it becomes financially viable to risk all that on a courier due to RM prices.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Are you sure it's fully tracked for £3.30?
Looks to me like it's £1.02 to get a signature on delivery so it's £4.320 -

There are already two different links on this thread to both RM 2012 prices and to seajays.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It's not fully tracked though, signature on delivery is an additional charge.
It's also a 3-5 day service, but RM 1st class is generally 2 days, often next.
And more importantly, it's MyHermes. Their reputation is shocking, and I could not entrust such a crucial customer contact point to a company with a proven track record of failure and let downs.
The extra 41p for first class is well worth the money.
Price or Service - it's one or the other, and I know which is more important to me.
ETA - It's been a about 18 months since I used, and was badly let down by MyHermes. I've just googled the single word "MyHermes" and besides the link to their own site, the rest of the page is full of negative reviews, discussion and comments. It seems that nothing has improved and you do indeed get a rock bottom service for a rock bottom price.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0
