Hi there,
Personally I would pay off the DP debt with the £480 and I think this would be a psychological lift for you. Then you would no longer have the £19 min. payment to DP and could put it towards the TV rental, which would mean that you would have paid off DP and be able to rent a good TV for ca. £18 a month, as opposed to the £36.59 + £19 which you currently pay.

It's a long road but I'm getting there! :T0 -
As a man I'm firmly in favour of getting a new TV

Seriously, it's obviously something that your partner is very attached to. If the TV is going to cause resentment it might get him off the DFW wagon altogether and that would cost a lot more than £300.
You can get this one for £300 - 26", HD and Freeview (or a similar Bush in Argos for £300 without Freeview).
That means you'd have £180 left over and that could go straight off the Dorothy Perkins card. You'd then have £43 per month to chuck at the Dorothy Perkins card and it'd be gone in 7 or 8 months.Debt at highest: September 2003 - £26,350

Right just called DH. He thinks the offering to buy this tv off the rental company is the best option so is calling them to see what they say. Failing that we're going to have a chat about it tonight when he gets home to see what we'll do if we can't buy it for a discounted price.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

One last thing before you call - if you are renting the TV and it does have a fault - aren't the rental people supposed to fix or replace it?
Might be worth checking before offering to buy - or use the fault to knock them down further.

Called Barclaycard and they said no. they didn't say that they'd credit checked me but went on to tell me ways of improving my score etc etc etc so I'm presuming that they did and he just didn't tell me. Charming even though I haven't missed a payment in the last year and never gone over my limit! Oh well!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
