    Hi again

Aargh - that is a horrific interest rate! I now think you should pay off that card and postpone getting a telly.

While your OH enjoys gaming, surely he can see that it's not a necessity. He's an adult and a father so he can go without toys for himself while you deal with the debts!

Get a TV off freecycle. We did that recently and the one we got is really good.

The dotty p's card is 24% and with our credit rating I'd be VERY suprised if we got anything lower than this TBH (We had to get a car loan at 24.1%!). The interest doesn't bother me TBH as at the moment we're managing to pay off a debt every month dotty p's is the last 'little' one before we tackle the big boys barclaycard and Ste's citi but we may be losing my wage in May if I can't find another job as my maternity pay ends so looking at as many ways as possible to cut our bills down which is why I thought of this..

In that case you have to do the right thing which is to cancel the rental and get a cheap tv, your OH has to realise he is a father now and its time to hand the playing with toys over to your baby. If its possible you income is going to drop he's gadgets and desires are going to have to go out of the window, £36 p/m is a weeks food.

You're not alone, we have a perfectly good tv but my BF would like a posh new one, we can afford it but why when we don't need one? I just keep humouring him and walk round the shops, before long he starts to think we need to spend more and more for the right picture and then I just point out that spending nearly a months salary on a tv is insane. its worked for 18months so far!:rotfl:

ok here's another option... what if I could balance transfer my dotty p's balance onto my barclaycard which is 6.9% LOB? I did ask last year when I had my LBM but the said no as I'd had one late payment in the last year and try again next year?

IA I think I would pay off the DP card, get a freecycle TV, but agree that if you can (depending on your job) that as well as the £2 TV fund you will put the £55 into the fund too.

£480 is loads for a TV, can't you convince him that he likes one of the nice black, flatscreen Samsungs in Tesco? Think they're £349. Pretty, with Clubcard points ;) x
