    The Irish job application

Murphy applied for a fermentation operator post at a famous Irish firm based in Dublin.

An Australian applied for the same job and since both applicants had similar qualifications, they were asked to take a test by the Manager.

When the results were in, amazingly, both men had only one wrong answer.

The manager went to Murphy and said, " Thank you for coming to the interview, but we’ve decided to give the Australian the job."

Murphy, "And why would you be doing that? We both got 19 questions correct. This being Ireland and me being Irish surely I should get the job."

Manager, " We have made our decision not on the correct answers, but on the question you missed."

Murphy, " And just how would one incorrect answer be better than the other?"

Manager, " Simple. On question number 7 the Australian wrote down, 'I don’t know.' "

You put down, "Neither do I."

  • :hello: Hi DFW

Just found your diary and read the first couple of pages. Will go back and read the rest but just wanted to pop in here and say hi and sorry you're going through a bad time. I've only read the last page, so not sure where you are right now in the process.

I've been through a split and had to move out of a MQ (we were both serving and both moved back into barracks, but different units) so not quite your situation with the kids, etc, but I have lots of other experience of this stuff too (sadly) so maybe once I'm caught up I'll be able to offer some words of wisdom. I'm assuming you've already been in touch with SSAFA, etc? Maybe in the area of Lincs that you're looking you could look them up? They might be able to help with your Housing application?

It does look like quite a few people have helpful info too though, so maybe I'll be too late to be of help.

In any case, I'm here to offer my moral support.

Hope things pick up for you soon
