A beautiful Spring morning here, and I am of course in the office
Going out this evening but might get away with spending no money other than on the theatre ticket which I have already paid for. This will be a generally busy week, but other than my singing lesson tomorrow (£25) it should be pretty inexpensive - cheap opera ticket I've already paid for on Wednesday (£7 standing room), work drinks on Thursday (should be a free bar as it's a senior management leaving do
), another cheapish concert I've already paid for on Saturday for which my only upfront cost should be the programme at about £2.50. The problem when I am out all the time is the buildup of small hidden costs - the quick beer when I run into a friend, the choccy bar to keep me going until I get home...
Today is the first day of my financial month... I get paid on the 26th but organise it so that my month begins on the first Monday of the month... Having spent every penny of last month's day to day budget PLUS the surplus I accumulated in January, I'm determined to get my spending back under control on the "little things" because then I can save up for "big things"... I don't have a budget for holidays at the moment, so that's one item I'd like to put a bit aside for
Oh yes and I could do with some new makeup and skincare products. I am useless with a skincare routine - I don't wear a lot of makeup and often forget even to moisturise  something which I MUST change as I am now 28 with very dry skin and I don't want to end up like those people on 10 Years Younger  I tested Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation yesterday and was converted - it gives a lovely finish and actually comes in a shade pale enough for my snowy white skin toneHaven't bought it yet though!
Anyway, have a good day everyone!

Well, back from the interview, I'm glad it's over. It was a good interview - but a hard one. Think I did okay... I hope
Will know in the next 7 days, so fingers crossed.
have a great day :T
Edited to day : Thank you all for all your good wishesSave the earth, it's the only planet with chocolate!0 -
bargainrzl - will we be seeing a photo of the "Trolley"????
also, as you mentioned about budget, you reminded me that you were going to email a sample spread sheet over for me? I had a go at the weekend started listing stuff on excel - but I still cant decide how to lay things out. what I want is:
- Some sort of year planner - where I can see exactly what is due in a particular month? i.e. - car insurance due - Aug - travel insurance due sept (that kinda thing)
- then I want to keep a list of grocery bills - should I do a separate sheet for these alone? Do people just tot up the total and put in a monthly figure? or do people list it down everytime they spend (i.e. every bill amount?)
Do people have an overall year planner? or just stick to monthly spending?
I thought having a overall year planner i could see say...what I paid for my gas bill in january and then throughout the year, so I could see whats going up and down? but Im wondering whether this will mean doing a separate sheet for each one, eg, gas listings, elec, phone
If this sounds confusing its because it is! I cant decide what is the best way to go about it?
As far as the makeup goes, i dont use much either - I currently like the Boots Tinted Moisturiser so I get abit of colour (as I usually look pale otherwise), bit of blusher on cheeks and lippy. I dont tend to put eyestuff on cos I wear contact lenses so am always frightened of rubbing my eyes and getting mascara in them and then not being able to see! (even though they always say they are c.lens wearer proof ones!) - I would love to go and have my face done professionally though!
TKP - got fingers and legs crossed!0 -
Oooh, sorry Shez, I'd forgotten about emailing you a copy of my budget planner!
I have decided I need to make it more user friendly because although it's very good of keeping track of things, it doesn't really monitor individual transactions (which is OK for me as I know how it works, but isn't great for archive record-keeping). Also, its one big drawback is that it doesn't monitor cashflow- this hasn't mattered to me for the last couple of years, as when I was saving for the flat I ALWAYS had much more in my account than my monthly outgoings, but these days I need to make sure my spreadsheet doesn't let me transfer money out of my current account if the money will eb needed for direct debits/credit card bills later in the month!
Still, the handiest thing about my existing spreadsheet is the way it does an "auto breakdown" of my monthly income, so I'll simplify it a bit and send you a copy, hopefully by the weekend...

Hello everyone
Happy Birthday Janb5 and Shez DS2 hope your day goes well
Sorry Crazychik on your sad news
TKP fingers crossed on your interview.
I have had a bit of a spend up at weekend I have been really good since I discovered this site, budgeting and shopping well, pleased with myself then what happens I feel under the weather (bad cold and chesty cough) and what happens I start filling up my trolley not sticking to my list getting everything in Tescos not going to butchers and grocers and savers for tolietry bits so I go miles over budget on only second week relly cross with myself. got to sit down after work and plan a much tighter budget for the next two weeks. that will teach me to go shopping when i am under the weather!Frugal challenge 2025

Good afternoon everyone,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAN, MASTER SHEZ AND MR DOGROSE
Thank you for all the get well wishes, im feeling a bit more with it this afternoon, tummy still a bit iffy, but had some chicken noodle soup for lunch, so keeping to light things and water.
My house is looking like a bomb has hit it, so will be attempting to start getting back on top of it (migtht get the LOs to help with the dusting!!!)
DD is at her art club after school, and DS is on a school trip to the Eden project, so i dont have to goto the school until 4 today, so no mad rush to get there before all the parking spaces have gone.
Right, off to do something
((HUGS)) to all those who need one
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
scuzz wrote:I had my drink spiked once. I was fine, and then felt very ill very quickly, my legs gave way and I was sick. Then I kept drifting in and out of conciousness. I couldn't eat, and was very shakey for the next day or so. Like you I couldn't remember much. I passed out for an hour or so at first too.
Hope you feel better soon. It's very scary when it happens
Ohh, sounds scary, and too much like me - im still hoping that it was just an upset tummy, horrible thought to think someone mightve tampered with my drink!!! Luckily i was out with friends, who were able to keep an eye on me.0
