It's the timescale that's the whole point - order Plusnet = scam phonecalls within days. He's now seriously thinking of not going with Plusnet solely because of this experience. If he does then I think I'll just let him share my wifi with a wireless extender and pay a nominal amount - we both win that way.

BTW Sorry if I have offended your opinion of Plusnet but first impressions count.....

I highly doubt there is a link. I've been with PlusNet for almost 3 years (with 2 nummers(, and never had any of these calls. No doubt just robocaller that got lucky. If your neighbour wants a well priced product with good service, he'd be doing himself a disservice by leaving PlusNet.

I signed my 78 year old computer-phobic mother up with Plusnet and they've been great so far. The equipment arrived in a few days and I installed the router but couldn't do the set up. I got the activation email a few days later and told my mother to follow the instructions.

Problems! - she couldn't connect so i told her to phone the help desk as I was losing the will to live trying to get stuff to work from 150 miles away.

Customer Service had some kind of system crash so were playing catch up so she rang off and tried again the following day where a nice young man very slowly but knowledgeably talked to her for over an hour and sorted it all out.

Her telephone line will transfer in another week or so.

    Happy days!

I signed up for Plusnet Fibre but cancelled next day after a friend brought this to my attention...

    http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/download_speeds.shtml

Their traffic management just seems a bit excessive, especially on Fibre. I am now using BT Infinity and loving it (my decision was for speed and not on pricing though so I'm not suggesting you get BT or anything). The management applies to all of Plusnet's packages so do check. Their customer service is good though.

If you don't have any particular requirements and have no requirement for the heavily managed applications, then Plusnet should be fine.

I was with Force9 (part of Plusnet) for about 3 years a long time ago. Tech support line can get busy but they were open 24 hours, so that was good. Quite reliable.

I am with plusnet and love it.

I was with BT and paying a fortune, something like £100 ever 3 months for BB and phone

I now pay about £20 every month. Got the same line speed and larger monthly cap.

I have had a problem with the router they originally sent but went on the plusnet forums and found out some information did some line tests and things like that and got the problem sorted without having to speak to anyone, all done by the support staff via the forum and ticket system. :rotfl:

They have been great so far, I cant say I notice and traffic shaping.

I've been with them for 2 years now. Can't fault them. I'm glad they do traffic shape bit torrent so others don't affect my streaming at peak times, unlike Virgin that just blanket throttles everything after a certain limit has been reached. The fact that they have unlimited off peak usage suits the bit torrent users too, so a win for all customers.
