My Hermes delivered to porch ??

Disastrously it seems Groupon is also using this shoddy company as well now. Had a sorry I missed you card shoved in my letter box despite being in all day and not hearing the door bell at all. There are no contact details on the card so after a quick google managed to get on a live web chat with someone at Hermes to ask that my mobile is taken so this does not happen again. Apparently though, they cannot as Hermes and My Hermes are different parts of the company, and confirmed in my question to her- do not communicate between each other at all! I had to contact Groupon to ask they pass on my mobile to Hermes and instructions to actually ring the doorbell! Whether this happens who knows- I am supposed to be having the redelivery today...but so far 1.30 and nothing. Has anyone contacted Watchdog?0

Groupon do not sell items, they are just a site who divert you to another company, so it's that company, who you will probably never use again, even if you shop with groupon regularly.0

just for the record - my Hermes delivery man is lovely! He will always leave my deliveries with my neighbours if I'm not in, and if they're not in, he will leave it in our designated 'safe spot'. And he always sends me a text in the morning if he is going to be delivering to let me know to look out for my parcel. :AI love Frazzles!0

Hi @jenangelic, we're sorry to hear that your item was not delivered to your home. If you need any further help, what's your email address or ticket reference number received in the subject line of our automated email so we can ask customer service to email you back regarding this? Please post it below. Thanks, Groupon UK“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Groupon UK. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. putting a "sorry I missed you" card through your and not ringing your doorbell would be totally pointless for a hermes courier as they only get paid 40p for a delivery made, ie nothing for putting a card through and attempting delivery..I'm not saying they did ring your bell but see no point at all in just putting a card through as they wont get paid and will have to return again using their petrol that they have to pay for..0

It took me 10 seconds to see what he was trying to say and who he was quoting.jenangelic wrote

I think not hearing your door bell is the answer to your problem, there is as adviceforall said no gain in a courier driving to your address and pretending to ring or knock your door.
Hermes do not pay the courier for any phone calls to customers so Hermes can't expect a freebie so I wouldn't bother giving your mobile number.
I find it very insulting if I have a message stating ring the door bell.
Obviously there may be a chance Hermes have employed a lunatic who doesn't want to earn any money or has no clue how to use a door bell but quite unlikely.0 -
More than likely she popped out to the shops or something when the courier came. As if you book a week off work and never go out at all, even for 5 minutes in that entire week!0

As a Hermes courier it is disheartening to read some of these comments. I operate my round in the same way as I have run my landscaping business for the last 20 years, with the philosophy of "Communication, communication, communication"
Yes I will leave parcels in a safe place, if the customer is not available, but ALWAYS leave a calling card. I will only leave a parcel in a place that I would happily have one delivered to myself. If I can't deliver, a card is left with my mobile number, so a customer can arrange re-delivery.
The payment from Hermes is not great, however, a job is a job, and in the current financial environment, you have to make the most of it. If you put your mind to it, you can generate greater income by encouraging returns, and capturing EBAY sellers and the like...
After three months in this position I now have customers asking me which companies Hermes deliver for, so they will get me delivering.

I bought a £350 camera from John Lewis.
Found it 'delivered' by My Hermes sitting in front of my front door which gives on to a village path.
Ok it's quiet round here but anyone could have taken it.
I emailed JL to complain, I wonder how many complaints they get then!0
