The site has now been killed so hopefully it will stop a few people getting caught out by this.
Excellent news. I reported it to the hosting site yesterday and got a personalised reply, so it looks like they've stopped this scammer in his tracks.
Unfortunately another one will be along shortly. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

The domain is registered to a private individual with an address, shown on the whois link I posted
It's probably either made up or a genuine person's details who is completely innocent, but there is a remote possibility that the scammer has had to buy the site with his own bank card and had to give his correct address to get through the card authorisation.
Why don't you print the details and give them to the police? Then do a little digging of publicly available information - find the address on google streetview, check the electoral register, see if there are any CCJs etc. Only you can decide whether to take it further than that - perhaps a private investigator? We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Or the card details used for the site were the 1st person that fell for the scam.
Adverts in newspapers are a common scam, Take ad out with stolen card, Its not usually billed for a while later.
People send them CC info where they take money and vanish, Except a couple will be used to take out new adverts.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Clucky Im afraid there isnt much that can be done, as already stated these people will be using false details for everything so tracking them down is very difficult.
How did you pay them as this can give a clue to who they are (if its traceable) but its for the police to investigate. But this is highly organised crime and the chances of catching the real culprit are slim.
The websites I posted earlier have forums where you can get support and they maybe able to give you some more ideas to help recover your money.0 -

Be aware of some calling them selves James Oliver, email jamesoliver74@live.com, he is trying to scam people via autotrader, advertising a vw beetle convertible tdi, via a garage called english leasing based in Leicster, he claims to have moved to scotland and will meet you in the uk providing you proove you have the funds and will save him a wasted journey, by setting up a person to person transfer via western union, and sending him a copy of the transcript!! he also has a fake website for "western union" when you fail to do this!! I am posting his details all over the web, in order to prevent any one falling for this scam!! He is very convincing and very nearly had me, fortunateley I saw sense before it was too late!!0

Hi this guy ADAM NOWAK nowak78@hotmail.co.uk is still active but the 3rd party company he is sending to victims is called gbautotrader.co.uk which was only created on 24th May. He has tried to scam me out of over 5000 pounds via an advert on Gumtree for a car in London.
Thankfully I did a google search after having a niggling feeling something was not right. I have not lost any money out of this just time but wanted to warn people that he is still active.
I have reported it to gumtree and the national fraud hotline.0 -
The site gbautotrader.co.uk is a carbon copy of the old ukautotraders site before it was taken down. Hopefully whoever managed to get the last website taken offline can do the same with this one.
Just to remind anyone who is thinking about buyng via the gbautotrader.co.uk website, IT IS A SCAM.
Hopefully this post will get picked up in the search engines and alert anyone who decides to research the company before handing over their hard-earned money.
The gbautotrader website is not genuine. Do not fall for this scam.0 -
