wondered what the new ones looked like.We are due to get ours next month for the nominal fee of £20.
Not enough parking in our area to justify that amount.IMO

In my area you pay to park on council car parks, regardless of whether you have a blue badge or not. It doesn't save us any money, but it does make life a lot easier when parking with a disabled child. That's worth £20 for three years in my opinion.

    £20! crikey!

Ours cost £2 when we eventually got it.. was the old-style one though. This was in January.
  • £20 is in my opinion worth it to have a Great Britain-wide database of BB holders, this model will remove most operational difficulties with the enforcement issue and go some long way to stop the fraud, most of which is caused by the complicity of BB holders themselves. The national standard will negate the issuing of badges without proper scrutiny and the use of an O/T driven nationwide assessment standard will target the allocation of badges to those most in need. Thankfully although there is a national dBase the data will be continue to be 'owned' by the LA under the terms of the Data Protection Act.

No legit BB holder should mind being challenged by any person invested with the authority to ask to show the blue badge. Indeed a BB holder should proudly show both the front, and in my opinion the reverse of his / her badge, indeed if all BB holders were regularly challenged and regularly complied the misuse[ers] would quickly have their badge suspended / and / or revoked and Great Britain Ltd would stop abusing BB holders and accusing them of fraud.

NOTE: any LA [Localism Bill] can charge any price more than £2 and less than £21

Actually the new BB can be used in Europe too. Can't remember the exact wording, but obviously have to read the signage abroad. Can't remember seeing that with the literature that came with the old badge. But then never took mum abroad, just wouldn't get her on a plane these days.

Might be worth checking out for when we take the DD away though :)

    Well worth the £20 imo.

Hi when my lovely daughter was alive and we had a blue badge which we used to park in disabled bays if we got "dirty looks" or words I would calmly say If you would like to share your medical information with me then I will give you permission to look up my terminal daughters records. I sometimes used to say if you want my badge please take the disability and stress as well. I always smiled nicely mainly for my daughter and I didnt want to lower myself to the moaner s standards. Lift your head up and be proud. Life is hard when you have a disability dont let people who should know better get you down. I would have gladly given up my daughters badge if it meant she would have lived longer. x
