DH can't really understand how I get such satisfaction out of saving for things this way - I have always liked saving for things - I feel I enjoy them more when I get them, and a sense of achievement of meeting goals. He just lets me get on with it!!

My DH is the same too! I sort out all the finances in our house and if it weren't for me - we wouldn't have any savings. Sometimes I do think that he thinks that money grows on trees :rotfl:.

I also think that I bore him with my MFW 'talk' but he is getting more interested as the mortgage balance reduces. When we eventually become MF I'll be celebrating financial independence and DH will be wondering when he is going to be able to buy a new car!

DH is already trying to get a new car from our offset savings. I say the one we've got does the same job as one which will cost us at least £10k.

Just OPd £9 due to ordering school uniform for DD2 from M&$ using vouchers.

Second job payday today - a day late due to computer problems. £60 saved towards London Coronation Festivals tickets. (they're on DHs credit card at the mo).

Online shopping done - £8.50 under budget so transferred into Holiday clothes pot - £168.50/£250. Might have to consider more than this as that isn't a great deal divided between 4 when we all need complete summer holiday clothes.

I've now admitted on Fortune Smiles diary DH bought me a beautiful Almond Cream Kitchenaid for Xmas. Not at all MSE but will last for years (I hope!).

Used it twice tonight - Nigella's choc loaf cake, and Poppy Seed & Lemon Cake. Both are new recipes.

Need to try making butter in it!?

  • Nice one on the kitchen aid - I have put some money by so when we get a bigger house I will buy one for my kitchen (no room at the moment).

Enjoy the fruits (or cakes) of its labour!

£17.50 spent in M&$ vouchers so same OPd to mortgage.

Cakes were lovely - but DH refused to even try the one with the black bits (poppy seeds) in!:rotfl:Obviously a bit too 'exotic' for him!

Scales show I'd lost 1lb this morning, but it'll probably be back on by tomorrow!

Gym visit tonight now all that 'orrible snow has gone.

Visited Warwick Castle Saturday and bought the merlin passes - £296 for all 4, reduced from £576. Used xmas bonus for this. Used xmas money my nanny sent to buy girls refillable cups for future outings - will save a fortune on buying drinks.

    Lastly payday tomorrow!!

Finally managed to finish company wages - with no help from useless Nwest online banking who have decided my business login details don't and never have existed. Despite me signed on several time a day for a year:mad:.

£300 OPd to mortgage, now ending May 2031. Hopefully full year knocked off by end of Feb.

£175 also paid to holiday pot.

Ended last month with 9p in current account - should I Tillytidy it?:)

Sold DD2s bed and desk on £bay last night, £55 towards her new one. Not contacting me yet to arrange collection though.
