A very expensive but very enjoyable few days.
Our german exchange student turned out to be a really lovely girl, and we have all had a lovely time getting to know her.
We've visited London and walked around all the main attractions, baked, and she wrote down loads of our recipes, been bowling and shopping. It will have cost me probably 3 weeks worth of second job income, but we'll all remember the experience.
Considering how apprehensive I was, I'm glad we went for it.
DD1s trip to Poland may be off though. We were told the cost would be £350, with £50 added for' just in case'. Trip length - Mon-Thu. Now we're being told it needs to be reduced to Mon-Wed for £390! I think this is just too much for basically 1 whole day. There is a meeting on Thursday and I hope we'll be able to get our deposit back due to the change in circumstances.
Girls shower has now been taken out and re-fitted and hopefully no more leaks. Kitchen ceiling is finally due to be started tomorrow!!

We've had no phone/internet at home since Sunday, and it won't be repaired until 30th November!!!!
Can manage without the phone as all calls diverted to mobile, but we are really missing the internet. Daughters can't do homework and I can't work from home, do surveys or come on MSE.
We are having a t£sc0 express being built round the corner, and some b****y idiot has cut through the cable. I'm absolutely .
Can't get through to a real person at Talktalk, the automated system just tells me "our operators cannot give you any further information, thank you for calling, goodbye". I've e-mailed asking for a mobile broadband dongle free but don't hold out much hope.
At least we've got mobiles, there are a lot of older people around here who won't have.
New ceiling up yesterday, no hole now:j. Decorators coming Tuesday. And I get the walls done as well!Re-mortgaged 20/04/12 MTiT-T3 No.7Start balance £89611.10 + £22500 = £112111.10/Current balance £85436.53

Kitchen ceiling has been boarded and plastered, just waiting for decorators to come back to paint - should be Thursday.
Had a plumber round yesterday to quote for ripping out en-suite and replacing - no specific savings for this, but OH has had some inheritance which is sitting in offset at the mo.Re-mortgaged 20/04/12 MTiT-T3 No.7Start balance £89611.10 + £22500 = £112111.10/Current balance £85436.53

Hi Megela,
Go you... a month chipped away and nearly another to boot. That's excellent.
Boo to no internet. Although I did enjoy a short detox yesterday evening... I couldn't do without it for too long.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -

Second job payday yesterday, £50 transferred to DD1s school trip - yes she's still going, they're condensing all activities into 2 days instead of 3, so she's only really losing out on a night in a hotel.
Kitchen has a beautiful white flat ceiling, after 5 months with a massive hole this is wonderful. They also painted the walls, I chose a neutral milky coffee colour and it looks lovely.
I can never understand why people put so much store by having everything perfect for Christmas, but it will be nice to have everything finished for then!
*sda online shopping completed and £10 under budget so sent to holiday clothes pot - £104/£250.
Apparently the home phone/internet should be back on today - will wait and see - but it will be good to catch up with everyones diaries and I'm very behind.
And lastly - Happy December Eve everyone.

Just popping by to record H*l1fax shuffle of £10 OPd to mortgage.
Christmas shopping going well, but have no idea when I'm supposed to wrap it up. The kids are always at home when I am!
Making up Afternoon Tea Hampers for both our mums, a large teacup planter filled with a voucher for afternoon tea at local posh hotel, nice tea/coffee, nice cup, photo calendar, plant to go in afterwards and homemade biscuits. Anyone else got any idea what else? They are both so hard to buy for.
Internet is back on at home thankfully - but I don't seem to have time to use it as I've been so busy!Re-mortgaged 20/04/12 MTiT-T3 No.7Start balance £89611.10 + £22500 = £112111.10/Current balance £85436.53

Standard mortgage payment of £677 paid today, interest added of £270.47. Another month has now been knocked off due to reduction in interest due to offset - Now August 2031.
£260 needed for next month off, which will be covered by usual OP of £300 at end of month, also waiting for payout from Ugov of £50.
Had an accident in the car yesterday, a van came round corner on wrong side of road, I braked to avoid him and slid straight into him. Front corner and steering damaged. Luckily both DD2 and I are OK, I keep telling myself it's just a car. Other driver admitted he'd only had van back a month since he last crashed it!!
Luckily DH's business partners has a 'spare' car, (it was his late dad's and he has hung onto it for emergencies like this)
