I shall try some of these tips. Sadly I think I can rule out the excuse of lacking magnesium because I do eat (according to the list) a lot of foods containing magnesium, especially bananas. Think maybe a bit more will power is needed.

I think bananas are high in potassium rather than magnesium so it might be worth thinking about.

After a discussion yesterday about the lack of bread in the house, which I said didn't matter as they all had plenty of Easter eggs left, I was astonished to learn that my eldest doesn't think you can live on chocolate alone. I am not sure if I have taught him very well or very badly ...

around 8 years ago i just HAD to have a 200g bar of chocolate every day as a minimum..... I stopped this by scoffing sooo much over two days or so that it just put me right off and was ages til i could eat any chocolate again.

NB the more cocoa solids in the chocolate the better it is for you so the blacks dark choc i think is in the 70-80% .... I realise it aint cadburys :D

break your bars into individual chunks and freeze them....

Hate to rain on your parade, but the latest research says its the FAT in chocolate we become addicted too :( British chocolate has very little chocolate in it, so little in fact the EU wanted to stop us from calling it chocolate and to name it something like "bars of solidified fat and sugar passing itself off as chocolate" (made up name but you get the idea) :)

I have to agree with the Europeans (of course we Brits are Europeans as well but you know what I mean) on this one. I too am disgusted that British manufacturers dare label their chocolate as chocolate as it is IMHO rubbish.

Absolutely adore proper dark chocolate with a very high cocoa content and usually quite a bitter and smokey taste.

Milk chocolate isn't my kind of thing at all, far too sweet.

I bought a book, Chocolate busters by Jason Vale, great book, says to eat as much chocolate as you like before you finish the book as you wont want to eat it again when you've read it, a miracle cure????? I don't know I got to page 56 & stopped, I'm sure he says at some point not to take 4 years to read the book! Interesting book though, observations of the advertising used, the similarities of colour between cigarettes & chocolate, purple & gold. It is a good book, I may even read more of it, I have got it out of hiding now, it certainly makes me think more & I get annoyed with sponsorship of Corrie rather than thinking, hmmmmmmmm chocolate. In fact I am probably eating less chocolate than I have for years, I really should finish the book...

Maybe I'd recommend the book from the library to see what you think as it is a money saving site :D maybe I should have done that, I may have read it faster!

I had heard about the freezing choc idea & stuck my dairy milk in the freezer, nearly broke my poor teeth but I managed to break through it in usual time.

I usually find that reading the ingredients list and really thinking about what all those nasties could be doing to me puts me off, and the longer you go without chocolate the less you feel the need for it....honestly!

When I do feel the need for it (usually at that time of the month) I limit myself to a cup of Options Hot Chocolate while I'm at work, and that does the trick. It's harder at home, but basically not having it in the house, or only having one small thing in, is the best thing!

Having something sweet at the end of your evening meal can signal the end of the day's eating, as someone mentioned, but so can brushing your teeth - I find I really don't want to eat again and ruin that nice fresh feel and know I'll have to brush my teeth again.
