I'm halfway through a big bag of minstrels as I type. What idiot designed the new bags? WHO is going to reseal the bag once they've opened it?
Or is it just me that keeps eating til the bag is empty?Bulletproof0 -

Hate to rain on your parade, but the latest research says its the FAT in chocolate we become addicted tooBritish chocolate has very little chocolate in it, so little in fact the EU wanted to stop us from calling it chocolate and to name it something like "bars of solidified fat and sugar passing itself off as chocolate" (made up name but you get the idea)

I can't help your addiction, but I can only say that I'm lucky in that too much chocolate cumulatively gives me headaches, so I know I can't eat it every day. I do, however, make the most of the advice I read stating that eating chocolate covered brazils was the healthiest way to beat that monthly craving for chocolate.0

Mmmmmmmn.....wonder what the biggest badge size is you can get?
There must be one that's big enough to fit on ' It's still not my fault, I just KNOW I'm deficient in something, but we're still working on what'.
(Mind you....I could leave myself open to loads of abuse with that one, lol!)
All this talk of chocolate MADE me go and open one of the tiny 6 for £4 ones from Tesco.Herman - MP for all!0 -

I bought a bag of revels last night (with the new self seal thingy) - hubbie didn't want any and I'm afraid to say I polished off the whole bag myself:o0 -
My OH will eat anything and everything that vaguely resembles chocolate! I don't understand it myself :A lol but I have a thing for fruity jelly sweets though. He has a filling in just about every single one of his back teeth, top and bottom and is due to go into hospital to have teeth removed soon. To help cut down his choc intake, I slice up Mars Bars and freeze them, as well as squares of dark chocolate. That way, he still gets a choccy fix but on a much smaller scale and it lasts longer too (If he doesn't weaken and scoff the lot in one go when I'm not looking.....lol)I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0

I did the sliced up mars bar thing to 'wean' myself off my daily addiction to chocolate. It helped me loads. I used to eat chocolate every day. Now i have it once or twice a week.
We have also changed our lifestyle in a similar way to SAvvy by the sounds of it. My girls are now more likely to eat a kiwi fruit than a kit kat
I have to admit I was looking forward to making our yearly batch of cornflake cakes with all the choccy eggs but my girls have asked their Nan's for money instead of eggs. Im disgusted with how sensible they're beingSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
Ticklemouse wrote:It is known that chocolate is addictive. When I was a teenager, I worked in a bakers/confectioners on a saturday and believe me, my choccy intake rocketed. After one particularly bad weekend (believe me, you don't want to know what I consumed) I almost had to go cold turkey. Even now, it chocs are there, I eat them - don't tell DS2 I ate the rest of his egg last week - I have replaced it.
Apparently, a common reason for choccy craving is a shortage of magnesium. Much of what we eat has had its magnesium eroded due to the cooking process or the fact that it's not there as the soil is now deficient in it. What you eat and when can also affect how you absorb magnesium. If you all have a serious problem with it, maybe you ought to consult your GP about this. Try googling magnesium deficiency or chocolate cravings and read up about it though. Worth a look.
Right, off to eat some.........fruit.
Does anyone know what foods are high in magnesium? I have chocolate carvings (and because I like it!) but would like to reduce the amount I eat. I wondered if I boosted the magnesium in my diet if that would help?0 -

Bananas are. I know because my Mother has been advised to eat them to keep up her magnesium levels0 -

I have had migraine headaches all my life and about a year ago started eating more chocolate. That made me realise that chocolate causes my headaches.
I used to go into the sweet shop two doors away every day and buy chocolate but I cannot remember now when I last went in! I am now relatively headache free.
Like Judi, if I buy a 'store' of chocolate for the home I cannot resist eating it - the same with biscuits. But I do find that if I now look on the supermarket shelves and say to myself NO, it will cause a headache, I can then walk away and buy some yoghurts, fruit, nuts or whatever to satisfy my cravings for snacks!
Now, the thing is, how can I stop eating snacks?0
