Does diddums feel better .. have their little hormones returned to normalfirstly ivanopinion you need to stop quoting out of context, also my claims record is well below average- my thread stated claims for family and friends who have i have had to assist when they have been bullshitted by their insurance company.Yes i am venting - why the hell shouldn't i? Ive had a panicking press officer from GRE begging me he will settle the claim and to stop the media getting involved.
Somebody is obviously puling your leg about the 'press officer' ... insurance companies love a little media attention .. they see it as free publicity whereupon they can actually include a little sales pitch about how wonderul they are and that you are just one of X-million customers who simply slipped through the net ... no genuine press officer would 'panic' over something as trivial as this.
What you said was
So you have had 'claims' (note the plural) requiring your MPs help and 'others' (again note the plural) ... so that would say at least 4 claims ... even if you did not mean plurals there but meant one claim in each of the categories then that still leaves 2 ... to an insurance company that makes you a bad risk and someone who is likely to claim again ... this concept of 'no fault' is not as relevant as it used to be, it is the concept of 'no claim' that insurance companies look at. A little hint .. that is why it is called a 'no CLAIMS bonus' and not a 'no FAULT bonus'.ive had to have claims settled with the intervention of my MP, others have gone on for 2-3 years
Yes, faked scams are just as bad as those who conveniently forget about their accidents and both are laughably amateurish ... the insurance companies have heard every excuse under the sun before. We have however built around us a nanny state where everybody is looking to blame somebody else for all their woes ... due to high cost of liitigation it is often cheaper for insurance companies to pay out to these scammers (or would you prefer them to spend £25K a shot at defending £5K claims) ... all these scammers do (both the deliberate and the 'forgetful' ones) is increase their (and my) premiums the next year (unfortunately some people have not yet figured this out .. they love their little short term gains but never think about their long term losses).Yes scams do force up insurance but not forgetful ones like mine , but staged and faked accidents scams are the real problem - agree? now most of these scams are laughably amatuerish and balatantly fraudulent and its the same names appearing again and again -key word again and again -that means the idiot insurance companies are paying out again and again to these blatant scammers - so the incomptent insurance companires are forcing up your premuims because they are not doing their job properly -it aint me (dont shoot the messenger) - im keeping them down
As I said in an earlier post I would like the insurance system to change so that we only insure oursleves. If there is an accident then irrespective of blame we only claim from our own insurance. If someone has no insurance then (again irrespective of blame) tough luck, they gambled, they lost. However this means that we all have to accept that somedays '!!!!!!' happens, it is not necessarily somebody elses fault, it might just have been an accident ... generally society is not mature enough for that yet.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -

Someone ought to tell the genuine John Smith his name is appearing again and again in insurance claims!0 -
I was with Saga until a few weeks ago and when I was phoning around for cheaper quotes I was told that I had a claim against me from Norwich Union, as I have not claimed for about 18 years this puzzled me, I contacted Saga and found out that Norwich underwrite for them and the claim was for £18 pounds, I said I was unlikely to claim for £18 when my excess is £100 they said sorry could not give an answer why it was there because I still had full no claims and they would remove it, it took them ages, but hindered my calling others for cheaper quotes clever Saga.

Even when answering every question correctly and honestly, getting a 'phone quote still isn't fool proof. I took out classic car insurance for a Roller (built when Rolls-Royce still made cars) and answered everything truthfully. A month later I got a snotogram from the insurance broker wanting to know why I hadn't told them about two claims I had made. The answwer was, they didn't ask me about claims, only accidents.
The actual words they used were, "has anyone who will drive the car had an accident or conviction in the last three years?" Truthful answer was, "no" because the cover was for Mrs Cake and me, and neither of us had had an accident or conviction in that time. The problem was that my son, a named driver on another policy, had been involved in two non fault accidents, hence the two claims.
Fortunately, there was no increase in my premium as a result of the two claims, I just had to send them a letter explaining the situation.
I did point out that they hadn't asked about people who wouldn't be driving the car. I mean, that's the rest of the world and I don't know everyone elses driving history.

firstly i have 9 years ncb -so pretty good methinks?
as for the press officer -i cant see how you can pass comment without knowing full facts (do i see a pattern emerging?) - the press officer panicked(although i concede that they generally they don't) because it was a totally unexpected action the case ending up in carweek magazine under the title "first the write off and then the rip" could'nt have put it better myself0 -
I find it really amusing that you lied to an insurance company, and then have the gall to moan like hell when they charge you extra because of the increase in risk.
How many other things have you 'forgotten' to tell the insurance? Points? Convictions? have you even 'remembered' what car it was you were driving?0 -
i always have legal protection,a small amount that can pay for itself if involved in accident, solicitor recovers all out of pocket expense, injury claim, etc.worth it for peace of mind.,and have needed it.
online quotes are usually cheapest, but if you are a member of union, rac, other insurance co etc often these have offer codes for xtra discounts, get the online quote from confused, insuresupermarket etc or from insurance co own website then phone them to get better offer, state you have cheaper quote from someone else, such as post office with money back offer and see what they will do,to retain your custom,as much as another 10% or £20 or more off cheapest quote has kept me with the same insurance co for some years ,dont renew on renewal notice, recheck quote every year and aim to get it cheaper or at least the same as current year0 -

FACT -i said i FORGOT quite clearly in my posts -why are you slanderously claiming i lied ?-at NO STAGE did i say lied -FACT
So you either decided deliberately to slander me or failed to read my posts properly and then act facetiously and sneeringly towards me sticking your face right into mine with the lines "about forgetting what car i drive"
Thank you and good day.0
