car insurance -outrage

got quote from bell car insurance and then they find out i had a FULLY SETTLED NON FAULT insurance claim and the b******* put my quote up by £60:eek: - absolutely disgraceful:mad:
kwik fit gave me a qoute and then forced on legal protection , i told the call worker i did not want it , but she repeadetly lied to me over the phone insisting i had to take legal protection aswell :naughty: , i told it was optional - and she refused to insure me without it:mad:
i contacted both b******* for an explanation - but heard nothing, surely legal protection is optional?
how do they get away with such blatant fraudulent deciet ?

Did you not tell bell you had an accident beforehand? The stats show that people with non-fault claims are more likely to claim in the future than those with no claims. And if you didn't tell them, you were lucky to get away with £60 - had you claimed, they could have refused to pay out on the grounds of non-disclosure.

And I think legal protection is compulsory with some insurers - part of the t&c's that you take it with the policy. I treat it as part of the quote.

Im not so sure MLP is compulsory with any insurer as in effect it is a seperate insurance product.

They will have asked you if you had any claims in the last 3 years - you obviously said no when the correct answer was yes. It is possible if they had found out after you had a claim they may have repudiated the claim due to non disclosure.

Legal protection is certainly not a requirement: let's face it, for all they know you may already have your own legal protection.

And if you did agree to buy legal protection with each insurance policy (motor, buldings, contents, medical, life etc etc) you would probably be paying several premiums for the same thing.

Quite apart from which, the rates are often extortionate; I'm sure if you needed it you could find a single, separate policy which would cover you for all your insurance policies at a far lower price.

hands up , yes i did fail to disclose accident - but i still think they're blatantly conning me - same as kwik fit with blatant lies about legal protection , perhaps, but unlikely , it could be part of quote - but why tell me at the 11th hour and keep it hidden until i agree to take insurance?- lies and deciet

Because when you accept the policy they check your details against the Motor Insurers' Database. They don't do it before because not everyone they quote for goes on to take out the policy.

Try not lying in the future, that way you'll have nothing to complain about.

I see you are not falling on sympathetic ears hear :o insurers normally ask if if you have made any claims fault or non fault ,you might have misheard the c/s, I would put this down as a learning experience ,it is better they ask for an extra £60 now ,rather than not pay anything if a claim would arise......
I would love some decent telly on a Saturday night

I hope you never have an accident or incident that your insurance comapnies solicitors need to fight in court then as your bill for your lawyer will be high if you have not got legal cover.

Like the woman I heard about on radio 1 news today who faked a letter from her daughter claiming she was dead to wriggle out of a speeding ticket :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: quite inventive I have to say lol

See car insurance as a whole cost no matter what. Maybe legal protection is not necessary but when you need to make a claim it could save you more than the added cost to your insurance I'm sure.
