Yesterday set of for a long drive and got stuck in a line of cars, vans and lorries behind a snail, mile after mile. The car behind flashed his lights several times but was ignored as we crawled on past places where he could have pulled in.
So PK53 xxx driving from Kingsbridge via Totnes to the A38 please be a bit more considerate in future, 1 hour to do under 20 miles.

I've never seen one caravan or tractor pull over to let the queues pass in all the years I've been driving.0

and your journey is more important because? im sure wherever you needed to go would still be there when you turn up.
You know the speed limit? its not there as a target, and even caravans have as much right to be on the road as you.
why should the caravan pull over? there's no law that says they should.
If anything, those flashing lights etc are the inconsiderate ones.0 -
Oh I dunno, I do see the limit as a target.
There is no real reason why caravans need to be so slow these days. There are plenty of motors powerful enough to pull them well and if the driver is that scared, they probably shouldn't be on the road anyway.
I tow a caravan regularly by the way (and I have been known to pull over and let folk past if I'm struggling for whatever reason).0 -

At least with a tractor you know you will shortly be shot if them as they are usually not going far.
I am lucky enough to have been behind considerate slow movers in the past, who either pull in or help you pass by letting you know the road is clear.Never caravanners though

The thread is about inconsiderate caravanners, not illegal ones.Holding up vast queues of other motorists and not using sensible places to let others pass is inconsiderate.0 -

I'm no longer a caravanner, but when I used to tow I would always pull over or slow and indicate left at a suitable point to let following traffic past.
Courtesy and consideration for other road users isn't just a requirement of caravanners though. Perhaps the OP would like to tell us how often he pulls over or make adjustments to his driving to allow faster traffic coming up behind to pass? My observation is that this very rarely happens today, even on single track roads with passing places.0 -

Being overtaken. If a driver is trying to overtake you, maintain a steady course and speed, slowing down if necessary to let the vehicle pass. Never obstruct drivers who wish to pass. Speeding up or driving unpredictably while someone is overtaking you is dangerous. Drop back to maintain a two-second gap if someone overtakes and pulls into the gap in front of you.

Do not hold up a long queue of traffic, especially if you are driving a large or slow-moving vehicle. Check your mirrors frequently, and if necessary, pull in where it is safe and let traffic pass.0
