You do need to be quite thick skinned to survive on some chat boards. Strangely enough I posted something similar earlier in the week. My concern was that people were getting far to fussy about semantics and the exact wording of a posting instead of the context in which it was made.

I remember someone once saying, in relation to parades in Northern Ireland, something along the lines of 'People are willing to travel great distances and go out of their way just to be in the right place to be offended'. I suppose chat boards aren't that different.

Can I just add that the use of the word 'tits' in your original posting is very offensive because it did not include a picture ;D ;D

  • Well, there is an art to being opinionated without offending someone upfront. Though I doubt in this day and age that this is a valued virtue. Or may be there are some saddos out there with nothing better to do with their lives than to verbally abuse an unknown stranger in cyberspace.

The death of old fashioned courtesy? :'(

I agree with LSW. Whilst there are folk who will take offence at the drop of a hat, there are also plenty who don't give a toss about how offensive or insulting their comments are.

Everyone can offer an differing opinion without being insulting.

Unless of course you're Traf! Her opinion on Scottish people is terrible! (Said with tongue FIRMLY in cheek!)
