Another one we had a newsagents within a shopping centre.Mid morning a "lady" from one of the other shops would come in every day and read the magazines. She always made sure they were well thumbed through and would never ever put them back in the same place.I asked politely to stop coming in,used the usual jokes about us being a library etc but nothing would stop her.She would even come in to the shop sipping a can of pop or eating a choccy bar.One day I followed her to the "boutique" that she worked in.I picked up nemerous items of womens clothing dropped plenty on the floor moved different clothes onto different hangers and was a right nuisance. Her boss flew at me ranting and raving until I pointed out I was doing the same as his staff member was to me

My favourite was working at Heathrow for a well known mouse in duty free. It was absolutely chaotic -school holidays . I was on one of the tills and dealing with a large queue. Next in line was a woman with her around seven year old. Whilst I was still serving the customer before the child started snapping his fingers for service right in my face. The first time he did it-I ignored it-the second time I looked at his mother who could clearly see what he had done and was ignoring it so I leaned towards him and said very politely to the child. "Please don't do that -it's rude" Posh Mum then pipes up "I don't think YOU should be the one to tell my chold he's misbehaving" I looked at her smiled and nodded and yes "Yes Madam I absolutely agree *I* shouldn't be" Took a moment for the penny to drop -and then she stormed off.

I told my boss about it later -He asked how I'd managed not to clump the little brat .

So - based on this post, you can identify this person then?:rotfl:

    Get a grip.

I suspect there are many mystery shoppers who use these forums - and you can bet the one above isn't called Mr or Mrs GIK!

Funny that I'm not Ms Duchy IRL either -and I work on the phones talking to the generally lovely, sometimes a bit dippy and occassionally plain rude and ignorent public........but as I work shifts I also mystery shop and do retail auditing as a freelancer. There's a whole thread full of us on the Up Your Income board ;)

On a side note I've seen a shop assistant deal with abuse whilst I've been mystery shopping a store-and I will comment on how they handled it as a part of my report

Interesting ones about people quoting the law at you.Where I was based there was a spate of forged Scottish and Northenr Irish £20 notes being passed around. As we had been stung once before and we didnt have a genuine £20 note to use in comparison we looked into the law and found out about "legal tender law" (someone has it quoted on their signature on this site) The amount of abuse we got was astounding, everything from denying human rights to we are racist it was absolutely amazing

Another beauty was this bloke used to come in every day to pick a newspaper up.Despite having signs up saying guide dogs only he insisted on taking his mangy dog inside the shop. One day the inevitable happened and the dog peed in the shop.I was not happy but the bloke laughed saying its only a bit of pee calm down lad.Wasnt so happy when I blocked the door and handed him the mop and bucket to clean it up himself

Not trying to compete but try working were you have a bathroom showroom. Its hard for children to undersatnd why they cant use a display toilet. Happened on more than one occasion 1's and 2's:eek:!! Fortunately not had to do the tidying.

We even had a cusotmer a few weeks back pee in a display toilet. now im guessing here but were pretty sure it was an adult and probably male as the toilet in question was on dislplay..... about 4ft off the ground. I was amazed at the lack of splash, still cant fathom how they did it!?!? Mustve been really peeved off with us though to do something like that!

Since when has asking the sales assistant questions about a product RUDE?

Saying that someone should shut they legs and not have kids, in case at some point in the future that child means they have to rush the poor shop assistant, THAT'S RUDE.

I've been both a worker in a retail environment AND a customer and I've been spoken too more rudely by people serving me than people I'm serving.

One of my PET hates is when a shop closes at 5.30, you go in at 5.15 and find them cleaning up and shutting down! My sister used to moan about how, in her shop, people would DARE to come in 10/20 minutes before closing and ask for stuff. She says people should know that they need to clean up, and shouldn't come in. My logic? If you say OPEN til 5.30 you should be OPEN till 5.30. If you need to clean up, change the sign to say open till 5.15! Don't use customer service time to ring up the till and mop the floor and lock the door. Do that AFTER you've shut!.

I've seen so much rudeness towards customers on this thread....how DARE they come in and expect you to serve them! Shock horror, you'd think you get paid for that kinda stuff. Oh...wait...

Ahhh yes, because being paid minimum wage obviously means you should lick all customers boots regardless doesn't it?

Being paid ANY wage to do a job means you should be polite to customers, yes.

Yes you should, but there's nothing stopping you having a good rant about the undesirable customers later on.

I'm sorry, but if you are rude to me and treat me like dirt then paid or not I'm certainly not going to be polite to you. Treat others as you wish to be treated yourself.
