You see RFW, this is exactly what I was trying to tell you, you should do some research before you make a comment.
That CAP only applies for Private sellers, after FORCED by eBay to register as a business, that CAP is gone forever! 12% no CAP!Ebay in the Uk had a cap on final value fees of £40. Not sure how many high value items you have sold but you should probably check your invoices!0 -
Oh dear, I like a good rant as much as the next person but I find it difficult to spend naytime responding when so much information is wrong.
Incidentally, if you list on ebay.com you pay FVFs on the postage element as well- are we sure we really want that?
OK, what information is wrong?
Let's not mix up Private sellers fees and Business seller fees, and after checking out that, tell me what is wrong???
And yes, I would take fees on postage ANYDAY, if they gave UK sellers the same FVF as the USA sellers! Seriously, did you see the difference in numbers!
So what FACTS have I got wrong? Please I challenge you to entertainment with what I have said that is wrong?
If I could post eBays links I would have done that, but not possible here.0 -
Does CAPITALISING certain words MAKE you think THAT your argument is ANY less FLAWED?
And it's "lose", not "loose" in the context you are meaning.
As many have said already, it's ebays rules, ebays ball. If you don't want to play, then you are not forced to. Some adapt and survive, some stamp their feet and bluster. FACT. (because adding FACT to the end of a sentence is the equivalent of saying "no returns" in a game of playground tig)
I know which I prefer to do.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

Ebay motors fee is capped at £35 - http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/motorfees.html
Is that what you mean by "gone forever"?<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
stevew8975 - Sorry English is not my mother tongue, but if you wish I would like to see you write in Norwegian, German or Spanish, and see how would get the most spelling errors!
I am responding to people saying that what I am writing is not true, and that I have presented wrong facts, the facts are correct!
Of course we adapt, lay down nicely, and let ourselves be trampled over by the big boys, I guess that is second to none of the British nature these days!
Still we are at our right to voice or opinion and what effects it is having on life and business locally, in the UK, where I am unfortunately based these days!
I find it amusing that an advice how to get the best possible deals on eBay, is met with so much contempt!
However my information is now out, it is up to people themselves if they want to pay higher prices to shop with eBay.co.uk on certain items, than if they shop trough eBay.com
Before I used to shop on Amazon.com, never saw much difference from using that compared to Amazon.co.uk.
If you are buying an expensive item on eBay, there are BIG savings to be made.0 -
eBay Motors have a cap, that is correct. But there is no cap for other type of items.
Just google:
eBay Seller News May 2011 UK
I am new here, so I can't post the link that proves this, but it is there!0 -
Just type the link and remove the http bit.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Typically the Final Value fees were around 7.5-8%before the increase,. A detailed, and subjective analysis with examples rather than conjecture can be found here - http://tamebay.com/2011/03/comparison-between-the-old-new-ebay-uk-fees.htmleBayRipOff wrote: »USA, have an approx. fee structure on average of around 3% (scaled depending on value of products sold)
No, they do not. http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html - 9% for auction listings, starts at 7% for BIN.eBayRipOff wrote: »All European countries, except UK and Ireland have the same, this means sellers in Germany, Holland, France, Belgium, Italy, Spain etc. only pay fees on average of approx. 3 % on higher priced products.
Again, not all the time they do not.

Unless we take your advice to buy from ebay.com, in which case there will be import duties and customs fees to pay. - http://www.dutycalculator.com/eBayRipOff wrote: »I find it amusing that incorrect advice how to get the best possible deals on eBay, is met with so much contempt!
Edited for accuracy.
Bear in mind that most of the sellers you are ranting to on here are low-sales personal sellers, and the business sellers amongst us do what is best for our business, not what some ignorant, blinded and disillusioned fool tries to tell us.
So, is there anything else you would like me to tear apart for you, or are you quite done embarrassing yourself without my assistance?<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0
