Abdominal numbness after C-section

I was numb after my first c section but that went away after my second so I guess they cleaned mine up as others have said. I know I had adhesions so I guess that might be what caused it?
Any figure issues in my case are down to letting my diet and exercise slip. If I am disciplined with both I can have a completely flat tummy even after 3 kids and 2 sections, but to be honest I more often have a little pot! Pilates is my exercise of choice to flatten everything out.

no c section but 17 years later i still have the over hang, i have tried lots of exercise that didn't work, although my stomach muscle is nice and firm the skin has not bounced back, who says skin is elastic... my stomach isn't, i think surgery is the only answer but i don't have the money for such luxury's.
I just buy bigger pants and tuck it all in. :rotfl:0 -
2 C-Sections here, first one nine years ago this month, second six years ago, and the area around my scar is still numb. It was numb after the first and continued to be so after the second. Doesn't particularly bother me though, I have to say.
jxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
Hi Lily, I had an emergency c-section 2 years ago and have now regained feeling, think it took 12-18 months, but I know it feels weird. I also have a bit of overhang that won't go away. I've tried to embrace my 'battle scars' as I know how lucky I am to have a happy healthy DD. Now pg with no2 and it does feel odd when I get kicked low or around my scar, I guess its more sensitive now. Have you seen your GP? I had a lump under my scar initially which turned out to be stitches and eventually went away, they could maybe help?Boots: £107.xx on AC :j

Makes me wonder why anyone would have one if it isn't an emergency!
Don't have one myself but I think overhangs around stomach scars are quite common, if you think about it, it makes sense, the skin is stretched out in pregnancy but then sort of tightened in along one line - imagine cloth with a line of tight stitches puckering it up. I have an overhang on one side due to my appendix scar + pregnancy.
Numbness - I had nerve damage effecting my hand and the consultant explained that cut nerves re-generate very slowly. It took over a year for me to get full fairly normal feeling back in areas of complete numbness.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

Because they want a healthy baby. Although I do understand what you mean about elective when there is no issue I have had both and would go for vaginal over caesarean.
I had an elective C section with my second child ( I say elective, but it was an hour before) as she was breech. Yes it was numb to begin with and I hated the feeling, but it gradually changed after about 3 or so years. I did get a strange muscular pain in the area for about 6 years after though. If I tried to get off the bar stool in our kitchen I would get a searing muscular pain in the left side of the scar.
As for the overhang personally I think it has more to do with having babies than C sections really. My mum had a little overhang even though both her children were vaginal deliveries0
