Abdominal numbness after C-section

Just after some other peoples experiences.
I had an elective C-section exactly 6 months ago and most of my abdomen is still totally numb. The area across my scar has sensation, but I can't feel anything from just above that up to my belly button. My belly isn't flat anymore (fat) and I have quite a significant overhang (botched scar). I was quite ill during surgery and they were rushing to get baby out so the incision is very wonky and has been sewn up quite badly.
I'm just wondering when (and if) sensation has returned for others?

I also had an emergency c-section with my first and a bodge job as well. I couldn't feel mine for years to the point where I hated touching my stomach because the sensation was so odd.
My scar is huge, I am not sure whether that makes a diference. It stretches from about an inch inside my pelvis to the other side. I had a planned second section where the lovely doctors spent a longtime repairing the damage from the first and it wasn't nearly as bad second time round.0 -
I had an emergency c-section too and although they did a fantastic job with my stitching (my scar is about 5"wide and almost invisible now - it should be 8 years on :rotfl:) it took a good 3 or 4 years for the numbness to go completely.0

Thanks for this. My section wasn't originally an emergency, although my heart stopped beating just after they administered the spinal so it turned into one.
I also hate touching my belly, as you mention the sensation is horrendous. I've had to have several ultrasounds recently and it was just awful. I'm glad its not just me that feels like that.
I don't think I will be able to have any VBAC's due to previous pregnancy issues, so hopefully my scar might get cleaned up if I manage to have another baby.
Thanks everyone else for the, somewhat depressing, replies. It looks like a tummy tuck might be the only option to eventually remove all the numb area (and the fat!)14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -
I actually thought the 'overhang' was normal after a c section. I had some numbing on one side of the scar for many years after mine.
I like to think of them as little reminders that I gave birth to a healthy boy, despite the circumstances in which he arrived.
Same with the bodged episiotomy I had when I had my daughter, but that's another story :rotfl:Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass0 -
I still have no sensation here either after an elective 2 years ago. It goes through me to touch round that area due to the numbness0

Never had a c section but I do have a big scar that is still numb after 16 years.0

Had my last Section 14 years ago, still numb above and below the scar, but kind of like the feeling! Also have a small overhang which is never going to go anywhere. Neither me or my male partners have been at all bothered by this.
But I bet Mrs Beckham doesn't have numb bits and baggy bits :cool:0 -

Lillymay, I had an emergency c-section around the same time as you, my little was born beg of Nov and although I have some feeling the right side of my tum above the scar is numb. It is a very odd sensation and I don't like touching my tummy or looking at it.
I have a huge over hang as well so not really sure if anything can ever be done. If i ever dare have a 2nd baby I may ask them then if the can sort it all out a bit better.0
