  • Hi everyone,
I have a total of £43.85 to report. I have been really quite good so far. I hope I can keep it up! Yesterdays dinner was HM pea & ham soup using HM stock which I made from a chicken carcass - first time EVER I have done that. It was delish and very MSE :p Only used two slices of fairly thickly cooked ham which cost a £3.90 for 2kg. Needless to say I have a lot left which has been cut up and are waiting for various uses in the freezer. Alle the pies I have seen made by Mrs F (sorry can't remember full nickname) has made me decide to make a ham and mushroom pie at the very least. Any other suggestions for making dishes with ham that's a mix between gammon and spam would be greatly received. Apologies for the odd explanation but here in Norway there isn't such a thing as Gammon (oh how I wish) so not quite sure what to call it. Not a ham steak anyway.

Other than that I am trying very hard to keep up with some NSD's and have made today one, despite wanting so very badly to be naughty and go to the coffee bar where I am working today for a cappucciono. Pleased I managed to resist. Literally turned around in the elevator on my way down to go back up :T

I took out my grocery budget this month and the envelope is at home so I am having to plan not only what I buy but when as I will not be using the card for any food related purchases this month. Thanks for all the great tips and good humour, looking forward to seeing how everyone does this week. Hope all are doing well :)
Finally had my eyes opened and I am ready to tackle my debts!

Hi, I'm going to join in again for May after being AWOL for a couple of months. I will try to budget £300 for 2 adults, 3 children and a dog, 2 cats and 2 hamsters. I'll update in my signature so there's no need to be on the front page. Good Luck everyone.

I got the job!! So proud of myself.
In other news, it's not the nsd I planned for, as I decided to get the children a toy/magazine/something to celebrate. I offered them anything they wanted for dinner, including going out, and dd chose hm pizza! It obviously tastes THAT good!!

I'm going to eat later, as I don't fancy pizza, don't know what I'll have yet. Then going to have a long well-deserved soak in the tub.

    Catch you later!

Well managed another month under budget, but other areas of spending weren't quite so good, had an unexpected bill for the car to get it through its mot. Never mind though things could be worse, will just have to tighten our belts a bit more and save else where to cover it.

Going to stick to the same £200 for May (don't need to go on the front page thanks), was going to reduce it down, but one of our babies (cats):D has now to have only special sensitive cat food, and of course as it's biscuits she's craving for wet meat, like her sister has, so we're getting her chicken breast and giving her a small amount of that a couple of times a day, so costs in that area have shot up! So will see how we get on.

    Have a good month everyone!
  • Hi, I haven't been on the boards for several years, but severe cash shortage has made me knuckle down! Can I join in the grocery challenge with £200 for May please. That's for two of us plus one cat and lots of garden birds. I have no idea whether it's a realistic figure or not, but we'll give it a go! :)

I'll update my sig when I can remember how to do it ... :o
