Parking eye!

Should I ignore this letter?
Do they ever enforce the fines?
1. Yes. Ignore.
2. No. It isn't a "fine" and it is unenforceable.
You will be sent a series of pathetic letters threatening you with all sorts of dire consequences if you don't pay. But, ignore them, and at the end of that series of letters, they decide you are NOT, actually, a sucker, and they stop wasting time/money trying to bully you. They then disappear and you will never hear from them again.
Look in the top section of the forum list for a post which has the list of letters you can expect to receive. They send the same rubbish to everyone. The mugs cave in and pay, the smarties who take our advice don't. Which group do you fall into? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
So you proved that you shopped there, and they turned the appeal down. Not really a shock to us on here, but an eye opener for you on how these vermin operate. You need to know it won't go to court, if it did they would lose as the proof that you were customer has been given. Also last time they went to court it cost nigh on £5k.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

Thanks for your reply.
I've just had a look through the example letters so I know what to expect.
Also read that if they 'could' enforce anything they have to prove who the driver was. The photo of the car is pitch black (just the front number plate showing). I pulled over to the services for a sleep whilst on a long drive so had a sleeping bag over my head!
I think its appalling an empty motorway service station allow this to happen when drivers are pulling over for a quick sleep during a long drive. What means more to them money or lives?... Thats right... money!0 -
Hit the nail on the head. That is ALL they care about, scamming money out of people. They are total parasites on motorists and society generally.
I was going to add that, but you have found for yourself that without knowing who the driver was, there isn't a damn thing they can do. Not that they will be keen to return to court action, as Taffy says, the last case they brought (last year) was an unmitigated disaster. The judge ruled their "fines" unenforceable and they paid over £4,000 in costs.0 -

Not only that, but the amount they can pursue the driver for has to represent the actual losses they suffered as a result of the parking 'contravention'. Which in a free car park, is zero!
So the £60 (or whatever) they try and charge as a 'fine' is actually a punitive penalty which is completely unenforceable under English contract law.Je Suis Cecil.0 -

Love the way Excel ignored the advice about the size of lettering on their signs....and who said it was ok????? their governing body, thats who?...oh yes the BPA....thats Bl@@dy Pathetic A@@@@les...and who challenged them about this?...only the president/chairman of the plain English society....think they picked on the wrong person there.0 -

Read his thorough and systematic deconstruction of the PPC model - as demonstrated by Excel Parking Services Ltd - here.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
The only reason i think i got this is when leaving the Aldi store you have to put your car Reg into a machine.I didnt see this machine and didnt know you had to do this as it was the first time at the store. Is this company worse than the others or are they just the most recent? They are quite ridiculous.
D3an - was there a reason given for this on the fake PCN? Just querying as my mil got one yesterday with no actually reason except she'd been parked in their car park, and demanded £90.0 -
Hi, I recieved a 'charge notice' from this bunch on Monday. I admit I was rattled and made the mistake of sending them an email, though not admitting to anything and not saying i was appealing. Recieved a response that totally misrepresented what I had said and then went on to quote some bogus court case, so implying i better shut up and pay up. Thankfully I had already discovered the numerous threads here and around and will not reply to them again.
I am now anticipating the standard set of 'notices' and will update as they come in.
FYI the charge was in relation to parking in a Coop car park, which was signed as free for 90 minutes. The overstay noted in the charge notice was 14 minutes and they wanted £45 if I paid up within 14 days. My maths says 14 divided by 90 then multiplied by free is equal to 'GET LOST PE!0
