As above bg engineer on site gets 15.00 before tax / ni to put through a lead which the customer converts into an appointment....that's it. Doesn't matter if a boiler is sold or not no more bonus.
To condemn a boiler requires it being capped off, tightness tested, additional paperwork, upset customer, additional phone calls and all in all more effort than just doing a bit of overtime for the same amount of reward. It's not a decision taken lightly.0 -
As an aside the only officials who have a legal right to enter,inspect and disconnect appliances and/or supplies are registered officers of a Public Gas Transporter. That generally means an ESP such as National Grid or whoever operates in your area. Anyone else can only disconnect/turn of with the householders permission.
However any engineer working on a customers premises is dutybound to inform the customer of any situation which may be or is hazardous and necessarily,to record such notice by the labeling and issuance of appropriate paperwork. If householder then seeks a second opinion/remedy elsewhere then they are within their rights to do so.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). I stayed in a hotel just outside of Colchester about a year ago, when I got there the carpark was full of BG engineer vans.
Overheard some of them talking in the bar in the evening and over breakfast, they were doing something regarding smart meters but apparently most of the training was in sales.. the guys I heard talking wasnt too happy about it but changed their tune when (what I guess was a manager) come and sat with them..
As for that guy on Watchdog that gave out "his" email address.. Yeah, I bet he reads every single one of the emails that go to that inbox...Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

Can't really imagine the smart metering guys have to sell anything much.
I have written to Chris Jansen at his email (same one) several times over the last couple of years, he has always replied personally and promptly.0 -
The BG what is maintenence/servicing /safety check thing has been talked to death on this forum over the years as has whether they scam people on contracts to buy boliers they don't need.
The simple question that I have NEVER been able to obtain from BG is what exactly do they mean when they tell someone on one of their maintenence contacts the parts for the boiler are no longer available
I think if we could have a proper definition of what this means contractually this would resolve a lot of threse issues once and for all.The Early bird may catch the worm ...but its the second mouse that gets all the cheese!0 -

When the manufacturers stop producing or supplying a part for one of their boilers they inform bg and I guess other major parts suppliers and the boiler is then listed 'reduced parts availability'. Bg then just pass on that information to the customer so they can make further enquiries with the manufacturer as to what parts are still available and to decide if they want to remain on a contract or not.0 -

the problem is BG only use a handful of suppliers...... if parts arent available from them customers could be mis advised.
also BG will only use manufacturer approved parts. doesnt mean there isnt universal parts out there.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0
