Dont know for sure these days but certainly when I was on a Board (old days b4 deregulation) there certainly WAS financial incentive for fitters to recommend a sales visit, however they were the days when Gas Board had no competition and fitters for the most part were doing their jobs as a career not to line their pockets, believe me the pay wasnt like it is now!
The response from the Puppet was typical of todays business market, total denial of responsibility!Signature removed0 -
Watched it when it aired, one story was about comparing a quote for a replacement system with the price of a repair which was undoubtably not required anyway. One was a boiler which was reading high on the emissions for a notoriously awful model and was misdiagnosed with a corroded flue adapter. One was a hopefully genuine mistake at identifying a part. As far as I'm aware 1 had a quote and none had a boiler replacement.
I went to a porsche showroom last year, guy told me the carrera was an improvement on my old motor and he told me how much it was....was I conned too?
You were if you went in for a service :rotfl::rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
I wasn't in for a service I was in for a breakdown on vw caddy....perhaps I WAS conned.0

Its a bit sickening to see these gas fitters jumping to the defence of an obvious attempt of fraud trying to flog an overpriced boiler to an old lady.It says it all when the most fervent defender is bragging about going to a Porsche showroom no less.If only the taxman would make cash payments illegal to any plumber, gas fitter, plasterer etc.0

so because she is old the engr shouldnt advise boiler old, not efficient, parts getting harder to get?
if a company was looking after your elderly mothers boiler, and cause of her age, never gave best advice, boiler went kaput in middle of winter, what would your 1st complaint be???
the engr has came out ever year and adv boiler is grand. never said anything was up with it.
sometimes your damned if you do damned if you dont.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -
if you watch the program ..
the bottom line is that the customers were lied to and got conned in buying a new boiler + they were really expensive,:(
maybe you should re watch the program as no one had a boiler installed by BG after the advice.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0
