You might want to inform whoever writes the MSE page then:

The MSE guides are often sensationalised or wrong (in the name of simplicity).
Plevin doesnt mean that they were mis-sold. It is a technical point on some types of PPI (mainly single premium) where the commission was above 50%. As it stands on this forum, we have only seen one credit card outcome from Plevin and it was under 50%. I know, from experience, that MPPI commission was typically between 20-35% on monthly premium.Well, what can I say, I didn't have the confidence or the prior knowledge that it was literally as simple as filling in one form and having such a high likelihood of success, and I'm sure the MSE page at the time (which seems to have altered now) said right off the bat, find your statements, gather evidence. If I'd tried myself and failed, would've blamed myself and been more annoyed..
Again, MSE goes a little over the top here. Many complaints require no evidence if the complaint reason is a solid one. With weaker complaint reasons, evidence may be required to support an allegation.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If I used a claims company, but they did nothing and failed to get any money back for me, but then I did it all on my own and got some money back would the claims company be entitled to anything?0

No. The regulator has published that the CMC service ends when they give up the complaint and that a re-opened complaint does not entitle the CMC to charge anything against it unless you sign a new contract with them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi all - just a quick Q...I was cold called by a company...I gave them some vague details about some banks/credit cards, over 10 years old, which I could not remember any details of. They duly sent me forms to sign for each institution - I have not signed, or returned them...also sent email to cancel the 'agreement' within the 14 days they allow. Would they still be able to bill me? Cheers.0

Not if you haven't signed anything.
and not if you cancelled it using their preferred method of cancelation as per their t&c'sNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Superb! Thanks, -taff0

THE CLAIMS GUYS - WATCH OUT!
They phoned me asking if I was going to send the forms in for a free PPI check - the Letter of Authority (LOA) forms. I said as any PPI I may have paid for would be Plevin cases, and as the forms indicated that I would be authorising yourselves to pursue such cases, I would not be sending them in. I referred them to paragraph 1h. of the Terms of Engagement which states "For Plevin Eligibilty Claim(s) only, Your Instruction is provided by signing and returning an LOA." AND "Your Instruction" is defined at paragraph 1h as the instruction to commence the Claims Services which are defined at paragraph 1b as making claims for the customer. I am now as satisfied as I was before that if I signed the LOAs I would be asking you to make these Plevin claims for me. Thus your offer of free PPI checks so I had the free choice of making claims myself OR employing The Claims Guys (TCG) to make them is VERY MISLEADING, since this is not the case with Plevin claims. Plevin cases are where you were not told how much commission the bank would receive from the insurer, so if you don't know whether you have ever had PPI, then it will be a Plevin case. Despite telling TCG on 13/2/2018, as above, via their website, I have been contacted twice since then, asking me to send in the forms i.e. they ignored what I said. I explained all the above again when they phoned and was assured I am off their list. I have received no reply from them - I wonder why?0 -
Clearly, spammers, trolls and other argumentative ne'er-do-wells inhabit here... I was after some friendly sensible advice about reclaiming PPI, but all I read is people slagging others off.. I've just opened this forum account. I'll be immediately blocking it and removing it.0
