Ok guys, can anyone help? I have an old sky box and remote and there is an existing dish on my house from when we bought it in 05. How easy its it to link up the box to the dish? Can anyone do it with a bit of common sense or will I need a specialist 'man' to come?!

I want to go for this offer but there's no point until I've made sure the box, dish etc are working.....?

    Any help appreciated!

the main question for you is whether there's cable coming from the dish into your room, if so then it be just a matter of plugging your box in and you'll be able to pick up the free channels 1,2,3,4,5 ++ etc, if you can't can a piccy then....

    Dish is misaligned
    LNB is kapput
    Cable is damaged
    Sky box is kapput

    good luck

Thanks, I just go this offer.

However, is there an advantage of getting a new card than using the existing card (if you are genuinely a freesat customer)?

I was lucky at 4th attempt when I called from work this morning. I was a sky digital customer till last month and we cancelled when we moved house last week. I tried three times lastnight and was ignorant to give the card number at the 1st phone call. It didn't work the 2nd time either as they couldn't find my details as a freesat cutomer. The phone was pciked up by the same person when I tried third time and I just put the phone down. The chap called me back starightaway and again declined.

This morning I called from work and a very helpful lady gave me the offer without any questions. She asked for my card number and I said I don't have it with me which a was true as it was at home. I asked about sky+ but they wanted £159 for installation and a new box. Although we already have the sky+ box, the present house doen't have the double output cables required.

I went for 6 mixes and sport which came at £18.50 per month which is a bargain as we were waiting to subscribe to Sky again when the HD prices come down a bit. Sky will send me a new card as well. Many thanks to the OP.

Thanks! Spent the night las night reading the post on Hotdeals website and plucked up the courage to call this morning and got it first time! Am well chuffed! I need to cancel my existing subscription now (it is out of 12 month contract) and am not sure whether to wait until card is received or not???? Should I cancel before I activate my new card and should I wait the 30 days period before my current sky goes off?

    Any ideas? Many thanks!

right , i dont have any sky dish yet but thought this offer is too good to give up.
just called, said i received a free trial and thought channels were great , then bombarded with him with few questions, what is minimum term, siad i received letter, asked how and whether broadband is available(it isnt), asked stupid questions. Then i said ok , i ll go ahead with that.
he took all my details, set up direct debit. he asked if i wanted to use existing card or new one, since i dont have a card, new one!
    worked a treat.
now to get the dish and stuff!

Nominated this for post of the month, as I think it's a fabulous bargain.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

good luck with that as they heavily subsidise the dish installation so you might end up having to buy off ebay then have it installed which could be over £60 on its own...

without doubt, you are correct, but it might be easier to buy the Freesat kit for £150 from Sky for the Box, Dish, LNB, warranties & Installation
