I was changed £10 a month for 3 months even tho I cancelled. I phoned them last night and they refunded me £30 and also gave me another £30 as a goodwil. try and call and tell them you cancelled sky and they left it on. he told me its easy done.

All the above takes you as far away as you can from the details that Sky may hold on you already as an existing subscriber, and hopefully will mean you can easily pass the offer.

Silly question but they tend to ask for your postcode, and they still know your address...:o

    Things you need to do in order to get this offer;

    1. Have your own Sky box, and dish already
    2. Ring the special number (there are no options it's straight through to Sky (scottish call centre)
    3. Say you'd like to take up the FREE TRIAL offer
3a. Say you did enjoy the free month when asked.
    4. Pick the package you want from the postings on the HotUKDeals Site (as per link at start of this thread)
    5. Give them your works phone number (has to be a landline, but don't use the same on as on your existing Sky account)
    6. Say you are not near the box (maybe you are ringing on your mobile or from work) in order to give them the Sky viewing card number, they will then say they will send you a new card out.
    7. Set up a DD (preferably give a different a/c no. than the one you already have set-up)

All the above takes you as far away as you can from the details that Sky may hold on you already as an existing subscriber, and hopefully will mean you can easily pass the offer.

Tried this as well , its the 4th time i called them, but they keep banging on about i am not a Freesat customer so i cant have this offer, they said they have to have an account on the system to give me this offer. advice me to call back once home with the viewing card number , as they might be able to search for details on the system using that number.

well i dont think i am going to get this offer , unless someone come up with some good loop hole soon.

Maybe as my wife has our a/c then my postcode does indeed show on their system.
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)
    Quidco and Topcashback, £4,569
    Shopandscan, £2,840
    Tesco Double The Difference, £2,700

Won't SKY need to send a signal to active the new card to the phone number you've supplied for the new account ?. If you've given them a different number .......... problems ??.

The card is activated over the air via the dish.Even when the card is activated via engineer call back the card is Still activated over the air via the dish.As this deal is a non subsidised deal and you are not getting any equipment, you do not require a phone line.Again no matter what sky tell you on the phone the box DOES NOT require connecting to the phone line.
    Onwards and Upwards ;)
  • I ordered Broadband with sky on 2nd march and then i saw this thread
I did cancell everything yesterday how long should I wait before trying the freesat thingy

should I just give them a bogus number or what?

    please advise

I wasnt asked for my viewing number or my phone number - asked for my address and looked this up - said "yes" you can have the offer.

They asked if I was on freesat - I replied if that means can I still get some channels after my box was switched of the answer is yes. - (said didnt know what freesat was but I am still getting some sky channels )

I have taken the offer in the same name, same details & same direct debit as my last account.

I quoted the information show on the leaflet on this thread - just as though I had received it.

I would try evenings around 7 -8pm if you are having problems getting this offer.

It will be funny if they ring me offering a deal on my old account number - I think it best to decline politely. lol
Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T

I'm obviously being really thick here but I don't get this at all. We're with Sky at th emoment but out of our 12 month contract. Already have Sky+ and all six mixes, plus movies and sport.

So could I benefit? Is that what you mean by being out of contract and having the equipment?

Does this mean you were not subscribed to sky or you do currently subscribe and managed to get the offer ?
