Nationwide Mortgages - How long??

My valuation is also today, though judging by my experiences to date the valuer will probably value the wrong house, nationwide will lose the paperwork, the whole case will be reassessed over a 48 hour period and a new valuation will be booked in three weeks from now.
Fingers crossed, I will call countrywide later to chase......
I wish you ever luck, maybe the worst is over and it will all be plain sailing nowAim - BUYING A HOUSE  by November 2013!Saved = 100% on 03/07/12 :j0 -
Thanks to everyone on here posting timings, we are selling a house and the purchaser is using Nationwide and seems to be taking forever and the people we are buying from are getting very twitchy. It took about 3 weeks for the survey and the Nationwide surveyer was very rude to us when we asked when would they be coming to do the survey as we needed to arrange keys. Told us to use someone else if we didn't like the date, we had to kindly remind her we were the sellers not the buyers!
That was in June Anyway we were told by the sellers solicitors that their morgage had been accepted and that Nationwide were waiting for a few final questions to be answered (not on our property, on the one the sellers are re-mortgaging) and would be about 10 days for the paperwork from Nationwide and then the contracts should be ready to be signed) that was 20 days ago and now we are getting stalling questions from the buyer (i.e. really silly questions and ones we have already supplied paperwork for weeks ago such as FENSA's so we guessing its because sellers are still awaiting final paperwork from NW!
So frustrating not knowing whats going on or why taking so long as we are not taking out the mortgage ourselves, hence this thread useful for us (was supposed to be quick sale as none of the properties in the chain (2) are occupied. We have problems who we are buying off but that's a different matter! We thought our last purchace was slow for a no chain cash purchace (8 weeks) last year as had covenant issues, but nothing compaired to this one! (Currently 10 weeks with no sign of anything happening soon!)0 -
I too am having terrible trouble with Nationwide. I currently have a mortgage with them but are selling up and downsizing so will be halving the mortgage - simple I thought but today, after one house purchase falling through and now onto a second Nationwide have suddenly declined my mortgage!!!! Head Office are responsible for this decision and Head Office have yet to give me an explanation - seriously angry right now thats for sure!0

Some of the crap excuses I've read in this thread amaze me!
I'm a bit late to this but here is my NW story, dates are approximate:
(Joint application, not FTBs, 90% LTV and just £2.5k shy of max affordability so not straightforward)
1st March 2013: DIP
10th March 2013: Put offer in for £160k on house but it is taken off the market
20th March 2013: Estate agent makes unsolicited approach to owner of a near identical property two doors down (who they currently let for) asking if he wants to sell for £160k, he does and we view it and love it)
22nd March 2013: Full application in
25th March 2013: Survey no problems (didn't go for homebuyers report as property was 4 years old and we took a small gamble)
10th May 2013: Offer
In between survey and offer was a black hole, but in the end I realised it wasn't NW it was our crap broker who kept saying that NW were asking him over and over again for stuff he had already sent, only to eventually realise that he had never actually asked us for it in the first place! Funnily enough when he realised this and told me, I turned up at the office with the docs and he wasn't there... it was disappointing that someone who is a supposed professional didn't pre-empt the required documents for underwriting and get us to supply them anyway. I will never be using him or that firm again, he said "I'll see you again just before your fixed rate expires" and I said "I somehow doubt it".0 -
Got a satisfactory survey text from nationwide, maybe the worm has turned.
