Nationwide Mortgages - How long??

I got my formal text offer on the 29th April and my letter arrived on the 3rd of May I'm hoping to move into my new place between the 28th May to the 2nd June because its during the school holidays its a lot easier for me can anyone advise if this is likely or not I seem to be hearing six weeks a lot from people. The house I'm buying was rented out and now has no tenants in it and I'm a first time buyer if that makes a difference.
Thanks0 -
I think it will be fine and you have mitigated the risk by exchange and completion on the same day...it would be worse if there was a gap, you exchanged, they did an audit and pulled your mortgage offer, and you end up being sued and lose deposit etc.....
just pray now for the next couple of days...
Than ks alot.
All went through fine and we are happily moved in to our new house0 -
Well, 19 days later nothing has happened yet! MA said their systems were showing that they had nothing to do - in reality, had done nothing! Then claimed a pdf was illegible. These things just prevented the clock from even starting! MA reckons a DIP could be tomorrow
Progress!
25th April 2013:DIP issued
25th April 2013:Received text saying valuation would take place 29th April
26th April 2013:LMS started ball rolling, assigned to QCAS in Leeds as solicitors.
26th April 2013:Sent form to older kids as they are over 17, but at University, to waive their occupancy rights (like that'll mean anything!)
27th April 2013:Daughter completed her part and sent to her brother for completion
2nd May 2013:Occupancy form returned to me
3rd May 2013:Mortgage Deed witnessed
4th May 2013:All paperwork sent to solicitors
7th May 2013:Internal valuation performed. Paperwork received by solicitors.
8th May 2013:pdf offer received after satisfactory valuation (do they tell you what they valued the property at?). Awaiting paper offer in the post0 -
Hi there,
Hoping someone can advise on timeline.
We met with a MA in branch back in September and obtained a DIP.
2 May - offer accepted on property
3 May - couldn't get an appt in branch for a week so I went through the whole process again over the phone. I was told I'll receive an envelope in the post to send our most recent payslip back but I haven't had this yet.
Do I have to send off the payslip before they arrange the valuation/survey or will they crack on with arranging that in the meantime?
Also, has anyone on here applied for a Flexclusives mortgage and needed to do an account transfer in order to qualify? If so, did it delay things?
Thanks :-)FTB Tracker
Offer Accepted: May 2nd
Mortgage Application: May 3rd
Survey: May 13th / Satisfactory Valuation: May 13th
Formal Offer Text: May 16th
Exchange/Completion...still waiting

For some reason I never got a letter from NW with an envelope to send supporting documentation after making a similar application to you by phone.
In the end after chasing up by phone for it, NW suggested to get them verified and scanned at a local nationwide branch and for them to fax it to them. Much quicker for them apparently.
The valuation isn't reliant on this to be done but get these sent when you can (and keep chasing to make sure they have them!)0 -
We put our full application in online and had an update of it being received on the 26/04. Since then we had a document advising what paper work we needed to send in, which we did, and again confirmation it was all received. But still no Survey is booked, I chased up and they said its probably taking longer as we asked for a homebuyers report. But I am sure we should at least know a date it should be booked in for by now? I am not sure how long I should wait till I chase up why it still has not been booked? I know its only 2 weeks, but seen as we are just waiting on this I would have expected it to be booked by now. I understand once they receive the valuation/survey it then goes to the under writer and hopefully we will then know whether the mortgage will be offered or not.
Everyone else here seems to have had the survey booked so quickly compared to us, I am slightly worried.0 -
I have had the worst expirirence from nation wide. I am existing customer for 10 years and applied for a new mortgage with them. Intially there was some confusion with my wife's salary so they said they were waiting from a reference from her employer. Her employer received no contact from nation wide at all so we phoned nation wide again and asked them to fax what they needed to her employer. This was sorted and we though all was good. It then turned out that they had input the wrong amount of (lower) of my salary. They wanted a letter from my employer stating what I earned, I was told to get the letter and fax from a nation wide branch, which i did. I waitied a few days and phoned up to check all was good. They had not received the fax....I was then told it should have been sent direct from my employer so I went back to my HR cell and ask them to fax the letter which they did. It did arrive but when I phone up to check, they had still got the salary wrong! But the person I was speaking said even though they had out down a lower amount It was an "aceptance" on the mortgage. I asked him to double check and be confirmed this through another department, and said in his proceed with the reservation of the morgage and valuation of the house. I got put through to another department, where I stated I would not part with any money unless he could again confirm (I was not confident because of the bad admin up to this point) that proofs has been verified, been accepted and I would be offered the full amount. He put me on hold to speak to someone and got back to me and told me "anything short of a catastrophe I would get the mortgage as It was accepted". This was verified by three people, so was good enough for me. He then proceeded to take payment and particulars of the new house etc. He then put me on hold and for a long time and said he would call back. He did indeed call back an hour later only to tell me the "you have been given a managed decline". I then spent far too long on the phone trying to understand how this happened, to be told a complaint will be logged and a manger will call me in the morning. I am outraged and still do not understand how three people that work for nationwide can say "yes" take my money then say "no" an hour later. This is unacceptable, I will go to another lender but does anyone know, as nation wide have refused me this amount will it flag up anything negative against my credit score?0

I'm doing a standard remortgage with Nationwide and it has been an absolute nightmare.
I started on 7 March and after 9 weeks, still don't know how long it will take. I have had to micromanage the whole process due to Nationwide's incompetence in dealing with their solicitor and conveyancer. It has been a catologue of errors, i.e. I received the mortgage offer 3 weeks ago but the conveyancer are still waiting for it. Every time I phone or ask in a branch I get a resounding "We don't know" even from the Branch Manager.
I went with Nationwide because I have had a current account with them for over 30 years, lived in the same property for 26 years, earn a good salary with a company for over 23 years and have never been in debt and have fully paid off the mortgage a year ago. So I thought it would be straightforward to borrow money against my house. Little did I know.
Don't ever consider using Nationwide!!0 -
I am not very happy at the moment with the level of service with NATIONWIDE.
I had an appointment for my application last friday, however the advisor didnt turn up! He was at another branch and asked me to do it over the phone - I was on the phone for 1 hour 20minutes!!!!
He then assured my the valuation/survey would be booked last tuesday after the bank holiday, however this was also not done and I have just received a text to say that it will be done on 28th may - surely this is not right?
I have left a voicemail stating how unimpressed I am with him so far!
Is there anyone I can call to get the survey moved forward??
The trouble is I am locked into this mortgage as I cant afford to repay the ERF and switch to someone more reliable!0 -
You could have had a broker handle the port for you. It's a paper application and not as slick as NFI Online, but they are pretty quick.
We submitted a DIP for a porting case on 29/4 and the response came back same day. The application was posted on 3/5, the valuation done yesterday and the offer is out today.
Can't say why your valuation date is so far away. Countrywide have no cover, or are fully booked until then?I am a mortgage broker.
