MSE cough-mixture recipe: chop an onion, put in a bowl, add honey or sugar, cover with clingfilm, then in the fridge overnight. Next morning pour off the liquid and take as as required - I've found this to be at least as effective as any bought mixture, and you can take a swig every time you start to cough. It can also be made up with garlic added to the onion - which I think is more effective - but may not be acceptable to the family unless you already cook daily with garlic, lol.
Bless you for the idea Robin, but in all honesty it makes me feel rather queasy thinking about drinking cold onion water
It is natural to mourn the happy, healthy baby you wanted.
But remember the reality, and consider whether you are not already spending more than enough time at your local hospital, stressed because something else has gone wrong with one of your family members.. It's enough to cope with, isn't it?
..At the moment you're doing really well, but how would you feel if you had a baby stuck in hospital for weeks or months, and then with life-long physical and/or developmental problems? Could you cope with spending hours every day by an incubator in the NICU only able to hold baby's hand as you watch him/her struggle to survive, and support DH as he recovers, and give your DSs the childhood they deserve?
You are young, you have time. Maybe your happy, healthy third child is twinkling in DH's eye even now - but there's no hurry for him/her to land on the earth - you can give yourselves as long as you need to prepare, then choose the time when you're ready.
Thank you for this :A Perspective regained! If we never have another baby, I'm blessed with the two I have and will do everything to give them my all. However, as you say, if number three does happen, it will hopefully be when I can devote enough time to nurturing him/her and his/her brothers properly without spreading myself so thin I can't cope. More so, I hope that it will be 100% healthy unlike the baby I've just lost.I absolutely agree, SS, Robin you expressed so eloquently what I, and I have no doubt, many others have been quietly thinking.
Hi Be Lucky - I have been meaning to delurk for a while and say hello. I have, of course, bumped into you on Piq's and Robin's diaries and have read your diary from the beginning. I know that you will go all bashful when I say this, but I am filled with admiration for your tenacity and perseverance, you really have had a run of bad luck and yet whenever I read your diary I always think that the phrase 'keep calm and carry on' could have been aimed at you.
You make me feel very humble and I recall one diary entry, in the summer I think it was, when DH and the boys and you went to the beach and you had a lovely day and you reflected on how happy and lucky you were. You are indeed blessed with a wonderful family, I just hope that they all appreciate all that you do for them.
Robin's right, you know. You are still young and I have no doubt that one day you will be on here telling us that you are expecting again and we will all celebrate with you.
Good luck with the carers allowance, and a massive well done on clearing so much debt whilst bringing up a family and working.
Hi Dorothy, so lovely you have delurked! Your words mean so much, thank you for being so kind as to say what you have. The day at the beach you refer to is a golden memory for me, whenever I feel it's all getting too much, I remember how wonderful I felt and it's an instant pick me upPlease remain out of lurkdom
I made the online application for Carers Allowance and just have to post a couple of signed declarations and copies of my payslips. Hopefully it will be a quick process.Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

There are so many people who are better with words than me, certainly Robin [whose diary I lurk on] and Dorothy too. They give wise advice to an already remarkable woman [you!]
You have a wonderful family who you treasure, God willing, you will add to it when the burden is not too much.
Having said that, I too would ignore Robin's onion cough mixture  a little bit bleurgh for me...Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Aw poor Robin
You have the last laugh though Robin, as you are the one who is cough free!
Nothing major to report today. Spent £8.60 on toiletries (nappies, shampoo, conditioner etc) which I will add to my grocery spends even though technically it's not groceries!
We have just had our second wedding invite in as many days! Weddings seem like buses, you wait ages for one and then they all come along at once! Really have to get some weight shifted as I have a beautiful dress (never worn ) which would be perfect if only it fit! It's 13 weeks until the first one and 24 weeks until the second, not that I've counted2lbs per week would mean almost 2 stone off by the 1st one and almost 3 & a half stone by the second. Hmmmmm

Evening Be Lucky - way past my bed time and my electric blanket and kindle await however I have been on here for ages debating switching energy suppliers - my brain hurts - have been looking after DGD for two days and she has worn me out! I know that you have been trying (and succeeding) to lose weight and wondered if you had ever considered alternate day fasting? I have been doing this for quite some time now, and it wasn't weight loss but the health benefits that motivated me. I am not and never have been VERY overweight, however I was maybe 2 stone heavier than I was in my 20's and a size 14. I am now a size 10. I lost 1 lb a week until I stabilised and can honestly say that I look better (well I think I'm lovely lol) and feel better than I have for years. I only fast for 2 days a week (I have 500 calories on those days) and eat normally the rest of the week. As long as I do it on the days that I am working I manage fine.
You might want to do a bit of research, that's what I did, google is your friend.
Right, I really am off now, night all0 -

Goodness me - am very surprised to read these comments! ..It sounds nasty so that's that - no-one is willing to risk even half an onion and a spoonful of sugar to try it as an experiment?
Be Lucky you think you'll get 'cold onion water'? You won't; the liquid produced is thick, sweet - cough mixture. IMHO it tastes much more palatable than for eg. B*nelyn - and there's nothing toxic in it that means it can only be taken once every four or six hours.
It only starts to taste strongly of onions if it's left in the fridge too long before pouring off the liquid - six to ten hours works well, over twelve hours is too long.
So here's a challenge - try it!..And then be pleased at all the money you no longer have to waste on Big Pharma preparations; a spoonful of this mixture [plus a paracetamol if feverish] will do the job.
ps. I second dorothy52's suggestion of the alternate day fasting diet - works really well (as long as you remember which days you're restricting calorific intake). The slight disappointment for me is that my body appears to stabilise about 5kg heavier than I'd like, but heigh-ho, none of my family are Twiggies - GP nurse said she was happy with my BMI and I certainly feel healthier [when remembering to avoid munching on fast days].

You are right Robin, you don't know unless you try *hangs head in shame

Thank you for the idea Dorothy and I shall mull it over properly. I'm a big eater and feel deprived when I "can't" eat, but it obviously gets results. What sort of things do you eat on your 500 cals days? If I stick to SW diet it works really well for me, the problem is getting back into the swing of it.
Chev, if I've helped then I'm pleased, but there is no need to apologise for feeling down. It doesn't matter what happens to others or how they deal with things, when it is your own life it's easy to let it all get on top of you and want to run and hide. I hope you can get the strength to deal with things one step at a time. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Granny passed the baton on! £10 for me on the lottery tonight :j. Who wants it next??!!
As a side note, 8 people shared the £2.2million jackpot with just under £280k each. Would you be thrilled to have £280k or be disappointed not to have become a millionaire??? As DH just said, we'd rather have won £280k tonight instead of a tenner, but would a little part of you would wish for the million you are 'supposed' to get for winning the lottery XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31.
