  • Brilliant! Thank you Granny Xx

This morning we got all the Christmas presents down from the loft to see what the piles look like. I'm quite disappointed at how small DS1's pile looks, though I suppose that's what happens when they get older and they want more expensive items. DS2's pile is 3 times the size even though he has the same amount of presents, they are just all bigger boxes. Will have to keep dropping it into conversation with DS1 that little kids toys are cheaper and come in bigger boxes! I've spent about £100 on each of them, but have about £300 worth of stuff thanks to some smart shopping. That's more than enough.

This afternoon I went to a friends for coffee and it was great to catch up. Spent most of the time talking about snowball calculators, SOAs and how to cut back after she admitted they are really struggling. It was good to pass on some knowledge.

Off to work in an hour :(. But it's payday tomorrow :j which is still good even though I will be a week short for being off after the operation!

  • Congratters on the DFD PLMBL! Have a lemonade.

I wouldn't worry about the present piles, older kids understand the exciting stuff comes in all sizes. If he isn't old enough to know that, then just blame Santa. :D I'm sure they'll be pleased whatever, just throw chocolate at them, that's what my mum did!

  • Just randomly decided to re-do the snowball calculator. 18 months ago our debt-free date was predicted to be Dec 2023 . By July I had got this down to September 2018 and tonight it came out at March 2015 :T:T. Feels like I'm getting somewhere now Xx

Wow PLMBL That is fantastic. Such a good feeling. Well done you. Bet during 2013 you can do the Snowball cal again and the end date might be even nearer.. Keep going xx

I know hwat you mean about present piles. My two are only 2 years apart so I have to try and make sure they both have the same sized piles. Otherwise it does'nt go down well.

Prices are getting higher and presents are getting smaller..

How about putting a small present in a large box??
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

what my parents did one year was to run different coloured wool around the house - you had to follow your colour and unwrap your pressies that where at intervals along the string - would something like that work to help not show the pressie pile size difference?
