  • Cheers SA! I really don't mind being at the back of the queue, I'm used to it (cue violins!), I just get frustrated that no one else believes in waiting for things. They all think they should get stuff yesterday, no matter how many times I explain it all to them. I'm sorry to read on your diary that Mr SA is the same.

I've spent the morning doing energy supplier comparisons after an annoying email from F1rst Ut1l1ty saying they want to increase my monthly payments again . Whats more annoying is that I said I was going to switch after the last hoohah with them and then I forgot. Anyway, according to the MSE cheap energy club I'm best staying with First, but on a different tariff and I'll save around £30 per month. The next best deal with another company will save me approx £21 per month, so I can't really justify moving despite First's carp service. I'm also limited to who I can change to so I'll still get the Warm Homes discount next year. I've gone ahead and switched tariffs with First so I'm stuck with them until next September!

I've also done a pile or ironing this morning. I know how to live it up!!

    Hi Lucky!!

Amazing news about the ring, although I would have strung DH up for wanting even a penny of it after paying out all that for school uniforms!! You're too soft on him!!

Know what you mean about being at the back of the queue and not minding a bit. Its a mum thing! You're a fab person.

Gutted about FD. I didn't realise they did the warm homes discount too. I am still on a standard tariff with npower at the minute but honestly I am not switching or moving a thing until I know if I can get this new boiler. Should find out a couple of weeks after Mondays engineer visit, so cross your fingers as it will save me a mini fortune!!

I've got my nannys first wedding ring tucked away, and apparently her current one is waiting until she wanders off this mortal coil then coming to jellytot. Sometimes wonder if I should cut the sentimentality and sell the first. The second is for Jelly to do as she wishes with when the time comes.

Sounds like you've got a busy weekend. You've just reminded me to cancel my delivery saver with Mr A's ;) thank you!!

    Take care of you. xx

Good news about the wedding ring sale...reminds me that OH needs a new one. He lost his over a year ago and has been asking for a new one...think I will tell him that if we can earn the equivalent in cash in 'extra' money to cover it eg. from selling stuff then he can fill his boots :)

Hope your OH is in good health too. Kids looking forward to the hols?

I know, I know I'm soft! I'd like to think of it more of an incentive for him to think of more ways to make and save money so he can continue to increase his pot! Method in my madness!

It's a hard one because sentimental value is often worth so much more than actual value, however a ring in a box won't feed you or keep you warm. The further down the ancestry line you go the sentimental value may actually decrease because it then belongs to someone the current owner never even met, yet the actual value may increase as it has become 'antique'. It's entirely down to personal preference and your current situation.

That's what I'm doing re DH and his tattoo. Any extra money he can help me generate, 25% can go into his tattoo fund and 75% is for the family/debt as I see appropriate. Maybe I'm not such a nice person after all :rotfl:. Hope your DH gets his new ring.

The kids can't wait for the holidays and neither can I if I'm honest. One week left! :j

  • Yesterday afternoon was gorgeously sunny here so we went to the beach at DS2's request. Lovely few hours for just £2 for his ice cream :D. Work last night was absolutely dead, horrendously boring and very weird for a Saturday, but everyone was obviously too busy in the sunshine to buy pizza.

It was bucketing down this morning so we were expecting to collect a very soggy DS1 from camp, but amazingly it was dry where they were. He was scruffy and tired but he's had a fab time. I think he'll be flat out asleep early tonight.

This afternoon was the school fair, albeit a smaller version as it had to be inside due to the rain. We still managed to spend £12 on cakes, face painting and tatt though! DS2 had his face painted as Spiderman but has already rubbed it off and now looks like he has a very dodgy fake tan :rotfl: Xx

Hey a 75/25% split isn't bad at all. There is definitely method to your madness ;)

I like the sound of the beach. Jellytot and I do it quite often. We are lucky to have an amazing coastal park too which she is almost big enough to play on now.

Glad you have DS1 back in one piece. We had a temp at work this week, and she recognised one of our financial adviser as being her scout leader from years ago. He was a bit embarrassed by it lol.

£12 on a fun afternoon is barely anything! :D

  • Today is a confused and waves of fear day :(. I'm expecting the worst. He was fine this morning so we went to the gym but when he stepped off the treadmill after his run it was virtually impossible to have a 'normal' conversation. He was saying things like he'd left his towel in the car but it was in the gym, and he thought he'd been running outside when he'd been on the treadmill. It was quite scary really. He's been much less confused since lunch time but then the waves of fear started. He was also jerky last night though so the pattern is all starting to fit.

I still went to Beavers tonight (leaving MIL in charge of DH and the boys) as it was our last official session before the summer break. We are having a fun session of Den Making and Fire Building though on Thursday as a treat at a local Nature Garden so I'm not quite finished yet. Looking forward to the break though if I'm honest. DS2 and I also made chocolate cornflake cakes this afternoon which I took to Beavers, using up some of the Easter eggs we still have that are out of date in the next month or two!

Ooh and I won a £10 Mr T's voucher in the school raffle yesterday :D.

Good news on Mr T voucher & the cake making.
Not so good news on the 'waves of fear' though :(

Fingers crossed for you Lucky that DH doesn't have a fit. Must be frightening as anything waiting for it to happen and wondering which medicine to take before or after.

Wicked news about Mr T's. That takes the school fair sum total to £2 spent all afternoon! ;) What a cheap day out!

Had my boiler man out. I am getting a new boiler in 6-8 weeks!!!! Hopefully sooner but they have to argue out who is paying for the scaffolding to get to my first floor but technically 2nd due to the basement flat :D regardless it will definitely be done apparently! I am counting my savings up now!! ;)

    Huge love to you xx
